Flower Does every glass-on-glass bong need a downstem?

Just wondering. I have a glass bowl piece but no bong. I would think if the bong is on the smaller side that it might not need a downstem. Sorry if that was a dumb question. I use to work at a headshop for a couple of years so this is info I should already know (but unfortunately didn't retain). Its just that I normally smoke out of a pipe or roll joints. I rarely use bongs.

No. I have a bong with a built in diffuser, acts like a downstem. Extension is all you need.

If you go into a shop, bring your bowl with you (as long as it’s clean) and ask to see both downstem and stemless bongs; your bowl would fit either type depending on the connection size. And there are adapters in case of a size mismatch (eg, 12, 14, 18mm, etc).
