Opioids Dihydrocodeine redosing

Hi all,

From what I've read, and from my own experience, codeine inhibits its own uptake after an initial dose, meaning that redosing after an hour or so is pointless. Is that true, and is the same true for dihydrocodeine?

My previous experience of Tramadol was that I could take an initial dose of 200mg, then top that up with a further 100mg a few hours later and so on through the night until I had enough. Can I do that with dihydrocodeine too? I don't necessarily mean in the same dose sizes, just in approach? I've been disappointed with my codeine experience primarily because it's a one-hit thing

When I do codeine I'm typically drinking cough syrup, I'll slam 500mgs and sip on another hundred for an hour or so after, wait 3-4 hours and start again. No I don't quite reach the same place but I'll get close enough.
In terms of DHC I don't really know, stopped doing it years ago, even around 500mgs I just don't really get high on the stuff anymore, no idea why
