Please can someone explain wtf this thread is all about..??

I was expecting to get involved in a debate about how wank the whole fashion industry is and the shallowness of modern youth - but I was sorely disappointed.

It seems to me that this is just poorly disguised model porn...

there are dozens of posts discussing nothing but specific lines.

it?s a long thread. read back more than a page or two. then decide if you wanna participate.

you fucked up. this is the best thread in all of bluelight and has gotten me three jobs (one internationally) and counting. it's laid fallow for too fucking long but heres to hoping that changes in 2019. Page 35 is a good example of what this thread is about, in general.

so intense to see these photographs in color. my phone has been on forced greyscale for years now, which has done many positive things -- like force me to get off my phone and look at 1) actual photographs I can hold or 2) large, hi-res versions on hi res version machines like my giant iPad Pro. so I don't waste my time looking at a lot, and it has to be really interesting to get me to look somewhere else. of course, that pretty one of sveta is in black and white.

I don't have much going on right now. about to turn 30 (I have celebrated 7 birthdays in this thread, I think. I read back through until the 30s this morning, and I had just turned 25) and slowly buying (second or third hand) all the clothes I loved in this thread. a miu miu silk jacket and Alexander McQueen (PRE MCQUEEN DEATH) loafers arrive tomorrow. the world is ending but fuck you if you think I'm not buying that ridiculous Kenzo sweatshirt Frida is wearing like 25 pages back. life is stupid and pointless but these loafers will last longer than liquor and longer than this earth will. still learning Russian. could be trying harder.

Mariacarla Boscono, shot by Tyron Lebon for Proenza Schouler SS 18.

I like how she always looks fucked up and she's almost 40. I'll try harder if you will. Maybe some fashion shows is how I should spend this day. Everyone in this town is marooned.

some of those sasha and lebon pics remind me of The Birth of Venus. weird because if i recall correctly harley weir was playing with something similar a year or two ago. weir and lebon are the female and male versions of one another. didn't she? fuck, why can i not find it now. in the search i found ...

frida gustavsson by ryan mcginley in balenciaga by nicolas ghesqui?re for The New York Times Fashion. an editorial we referenced when it first emerged.

the world is ending but fuck you if you think I'm not buying that ridiculous Kenzo sweatshirt Frida is wearing like 25 pages back.
gustavsson on page 20? i'm rooting for you hard. you can get it in every other color variation that's almost but not quite as good. they wouldn't do their consumer like that, re-issuing an original that went big. not even a lowly sweatshirt. like rodarte sells their famous ro(heart)te t-shirt in every fabric and ink color combination imaginable, except the original.

why the fuck would i not say her name? what a nightmare. ended up finding my post through google reverse image search ...
NSFW:
this girl isn't trying to be an actress either. but she is another of my more recent favorites. well, i've liked her for a relative while. but she recently made it on my list of track tags. and that's really making it...
and i can't find this even though it's been posted in here ...

above all by hugh lippe.

i bring these photos to the front to point out she's still killing it with the americana look ...

by jake rosenberg

google won't tell me who this is. says it's by ed sheerdan. i've got my doubts. anyway, i finally found an un- or less- cropped version that looks close to the original.

the american dream you could never have ...

by jason lee perry for bamba swimwear

it's hard to sort through the good photos of her now because she became on angel. unlike daphne and lindsey, the two true supermodels. they are getting older too ("they only want you when you're seventeen; when you're twenty-one, you're no fun") and having to accept that "babe" look. on the note of model porn, daphne just did a shoot for For Love & Lemons. i've only seen glimpses. imagine it's too good for that nasty "tasteful" pics of beautiful women lounge thread. so that's probably on the docket for this thread.

wow, did it again. keyword frida aasen

that is 100% Karlie Kloss wearing that gorgeous Nicholas Ghesquire Balenciaga. The ruffles. I'd recognize that shit anywhere. It's the weird overlap time of when Kristen Stewart was a face of the brand and right before Ghesquire got fired. You did post other shots from that photo shoot. She's wearing a bathing suit from Chanel cruise. It's a beautiful bathing suit.

someone from women management just recently died. i know that that girl is from women management because she's from outer space.

i bought a fucked up magazine about moscow because im going there for my 30(~!!)th birthday with my work wife i met working in europe on magazine. some of the photography is great.

i swear they weren't that shitty on my phone. will get info tomorrow, too tired, too busy destroying worlds tonight.

mcqueen loafers in the cut, with a small japanese yen in the right shoe so i can tell which direction is which.

YES fucking page roll.

I literally have not stopped thinking about you all day, Joe.

I'm going to re-watch Karl Lagerfeld confidential and drink some fucked up weird orange German wine (orange Gewurtztraminer) and sleep with my dead chanel lipstick tube under my pillow as a good luck charm for this full moon in pisces. I am going to get a manicure tomorrow, and I think I'm going to get black, even though it doesn't last as long, in mourning, for Karl. Proust!

hey. have so much I want to post that i get behind and overwhelmed. plus the only time im on my computer is photo editing and it?s hard to make a fashion post from your phone, as i?m attempting now.

rip karl. you made some pretty stuff but it was time to move on.

wim wenders, director of the day only phenomenal film i?ve seen yet this year ? Paris, Texas, is filming something for jil sander. learned this from both the new 032c and A Magazine.

his wife, donota, is or was a good photographer who did bts shoots with awesome soft lighting. she took those milla photos too ...

Milla, Los Angeles, 1999

these awesome sounding collaborations often end up being bland, commercial garbage (like sofia for whoever and the Gummo director with Die Antword for dior), but who knows. that one for fendi with the ultra blonde who acts a lot these days and some director we like turned out amazing. with all the wind. will find it later.

here?s wender?s, or some of it. can?t watch or properly link right now cause on cell phone on airplane.

yeah, that turned out well. donota owes some of that photo to luck. we all do.

some more cecilie bahnsen fall '19 because it's so soft ...

photographer is still jose fineseifert. no idea who all the models are but they work well. especially the lead girl in the first photo and the baby in the second. nice tile background.

the windy collaboration that resulted in something worthwhile is "Snowbird" by sean baker starring abbey lee kershaw for kezno. nsfw because this is repeat content ...

NSFW:
can hardly wait for sean baker to disappoint me. sure hasn't yet. doesn't appear to have any current projects announced.

Haven't got much going on. I'm having out with a lot of painters and like...theoretical critics lately. I got drunk with one of those theoretical critics (I think she's going to write her PhD about the pixel as the most important form in modern art...I edited the piece for her and I still am not entirely sure if I believe her) and we got tattoos together. Mine is a Nabokov quote, and not even from my favorite Nabokov! But a quote I'll treasure and especially because it happened, 11pm on a Friday night in East Atlanta, with her.

I went to Barnes and Noble and I was going to get some fancy ass fashion magazines so I could like, get back into this, and I left with nothing! And I subscribed to the London Review of Books on my phone! WTF is wrong with me? I also have a blog I'm not writing and books I'm not reading and all this other shit. Whatever. Some things that I know I like from The Fashion Week as self service calls it.

Lanvin. Photography by Emon Toufanian.

Saint Laurent

Simone Rocha by Ralph Whitehead.

I have more but I'm not sure if I'm feeling it right now. I'm reading a lot of James Salter, which is super sexy and sad. The kind of sexy where the sex is hot as fuck but not a graphic word is written. I guess Nabokov does that too. I need new music. I need new underwear. I ordered film but it won't be here in time for this studio visit I'm supposed to do.

interesting thesis. reality is, no matter artist's medium, the majority of the work will be seen (often solely) in pixel form.

that little lavin model, sara grace wallerstedt, has an amazing editorial in the new A Magazine focused on simone rocha. will try to find good digital copies soon. in the meantime ...

sveta in alexander mcqueen by asher moss. bit of border left behind in the scan strongly suggests it's shot on kodak portra 160 in 120 format. to be honest i like the photo a lot less now that it's not a little square on my phone. but film, sveta, alexander mcqueen, and uncensored female nipple from instagram is enough to go ahead and still post. and she looks so beautifully serene. he spent a little bit of time on that color in post.

why did you think you were going to find anything real at barnes & noble? even before that place became a post apocalyptic waste land they didn't carry anything realer than vogue italia.

that ralph / simone photo looks large format. 4x5 on the runway. must have been a reality at one point. bunch of graflexs instead of iphones lining the runway.

They sell 032c at Barnes and Noble. On the hunt for the Kiko cover. Which I have now acquired.
NSFW:
drunk, at bookclub.

A completist until the end. I walked down the street from the office and ran into my friend so we went and had lunch together, and he convinced? goaded? worked me up into a tizzy and I ended up buying the most expensive magazine I have ever purchased. It was more expensive than my Sally Mann photo book.

I'm terrified to even open it. The guy who sold it to me was at the magazine book club and he told me that only real ballers buy MASTERMIND. He smiled at me when I bought it and asked if I would like to be on a panel for design week. #ballin'.

don't think i've heard of "Mastermind." living up to expectations?

sky ferreira is putting out new music. there's an article about it on Pitchfork, which i only skimmed because music journalism isn't really my genre.

video clips by tyler kohlhoff. this one is too long to convert to a gif with any quality.

for now there audio is on youtube, apple music, and her soundcloud, and i'm sure elsewhere.

reminds me of the song "Night Time, My Time." all dark and Twin Peaks. i like it very much, but prefer her also recent "Voices Carry Over" cover. excited for the the full album "Masochism" to come out and all the singles along the way. might buy a single day to see her play at pitchfork. better and more affordable than the lolla line-up. Soccer Mommy plays the same day.

sandy kim (who has many great analog shots of sky) shot and alejandro cardenas designed the cover art. typography like trying to sign a credit card scanner screen ...

music, but sky ferreira is fashion.
