Davids Ritalin/Dexamphetamine Q&A thread

similar, yet different. i dont like ritalin at all. it makes me nervous in doses that would be decent if it were dex. i used to take it when i went to school, in small amounts, and it did help me focus. but i would prefer dex anytime.

if your considering taking the amounts in the title, i think you should reconsider. you wont notice a great deal of difference from taking either amount. but with saying that, dont take too many. most people cant tell the difference between dexies and speed. i dont weigh very much at all, and if i were to take some dexies, i'd have at least 6.

I take 100mgs rit daily and it often causes jitters and anxiety, apart from being up and down, my doc is considering changing to Dextroamphetamine-I hope

What are the differences?

What dose would be an equal?
 
They are quite similar in effects, to the extent that most of the differences noticed will be extremely subjective. That said, I have used both of them extensively in varying dose ranges. At at prescribed dosage, the effects are almost indisinguishable, though once you increase this a little bit more the differences of each drug become apparent. I personally thought the come down was far far worse on ritalin than dex, which for me got to the point where I wouldn't even take ritalin because the feeling of the comedown would straight away jump to mind. I personally thought the feeling of being at ease to be more pronounced with the ritalin, while overall the dex experience was more enjoyable with a little more euphoria and a general clear feeling in thoughts. The comedown was usually bareable from the dex I thought (atleast, for the first couple thousand or so).

These days I dont feel I benefit at all from either of the substances and just experience very pronounced side effects. I feel I can do my work more productively without them.
 
My prescribed dose was 2 pills 3 times a day (so 20mg rit at once, 10mg dex at once) but I also experimented up to doses of 100mg ritalin or 50mg dex (and anywhere in between). On the single occasions I took higher than that level for either drug I found no increase in the strength of the effects, just a slightly longer duration, and a worse comedown. Not that its reccomended taking more than the prescribed level. I usually just did it for the recreational value, but sometimes i'd also do it if I had a huge amount of work to get through. At the prescribed dose, the effects will be hard to distinguish between each other imo (thats not to say that one couldn't tell the difference, just that it will be subtle).
 
Many Many people have said Dex if way more euphoric and stronger-being a dopinine noradrenaline AND serotonin realeaser AND uptake inhibator. a double effect.
I am hoping to be switched to find out

well if you have adhd and you take dex, you'll need more than somebody who doesnt. in low doses, amphetamines have a paradoxial calming effect on people with this disorder.
 
a specialist gave me an ADD diagnosis. started 10mgs 2x aday now up to 100mgs looking to switch to dEX FOR TOLERANCE. (HOPING)
 
taking dex without a break for a long period of time is fucked.
over time you become depressed really easy ( i was taking 6 - 8 a day to overcome passive adhd, after about 14 months of this, i started to feel the depression). this was like every night, i would become depressed.
Not nice... taken a 3 week break and it has pretty much disappeared.

as for the preference, i found that i needed up to 3 x the mg dosage of ritalin to get any where near the effects of the dex. but i felt the ritalin was actually more productive in countering my condition once i got the dosage right.
Down side was that it costs like 2.5 times as much a script o0f dex (its not covered by PBS) so that pretty much decided whiuc h one i used..

oh and it ios easier to sleep on ritalin than dex... dunno why, just what i have found

^^^ If that's in reference to me........ i have swallowed dexies before; pharmaceutical speed......but i have never swallowed ritalin, only ever snorted it.......

has an okay high, quiet speedy(obviously) very alert and great for talking shit, but once you come down you really crash.....and it burns the hell out of your nose....
I used too snort between 4 - 8 tablets over an hour or so....... 4 tablets seemed to last a couple of hrs, but then again im only 60 kg and it was the first time i had tried them...

At the time ritalin seemed to be awesome( it introduced me to the world of stimulants, so i'll give it credit fot that) but once i dabbled in other stuff, i realised that it was just childs play..
 
Is Ritalin or Dexamphetamine scripted in Aus?

some ADD/ADHD people are pescribed up to 8 x 5mg a day dextroamphetamine.
 
So Dex is more often given in Aussie?. up to 40mgs?-Max Sigma pharma

I'm on 100mgs rit and wanting to try Dex for reduced tolerance.-same manufacturer i believe sigma-Sydney,
