Training Log Cycling Journal (Bicycle not steroids)

Looking through my journal I've gone from 7 miles in 45 mins to 11 miles in 41 mins meaning I've gone from about 9mph average to 16mph if my calculation is right. Not a bad improvement I don't think. :cool:

Monday January 6

14.1 miles hill climbing + longer route. Took about the same time but I ended up also going to the store.

Saturday January 11

13 miles, 1hr 2-3 mins hill climbing + longer route.

Tuesday January 14

13 miles, 1hr 2 mins hill climbing + longer route.

Thursday January 16

13 miles, 1hr 3 mins hill climbing + longer route.

Saturday January 18

13 miles, 1hr 1 min hill climbing + longer route. Really unmotivated today but I rode anyway. And got my best time.

Such slacking... 3 days off. I felt a little better since it was raining yesterday, but still. Gonna try to do something later today.

Wednesday January 22

13 miles, 1hr 3 mins hill climbing + longer route. Wind was slowing me down a bit but it didn't rain so I guess I can't complain.\

Friday January 24

14 miles? 1hr 11 mins hill climbing + longer route. Warmed up and stopped somewhere so that affected my time.

Sunday January 26

13 miles, 1hr 2 mins hill climbing + longer route. I've been warming up for about 5 minutes before my ride just going around the neighborhood. I think it helps to get the blood flowing and loosened up before immediately starting the hills.

Thursday January 30

13 miles, 1hr 2-3 mins hill climbing + longer route. Was raining on the 29th.

Sunday February 2

13 miles, 1hr 2-3 mins hill climbing + longer route.

Tuesday February 4

13 miles, 1hr 3 mins hill climbing + longer route. Was about 38 degrees out, last 2 fingers on each hand were going numb. I really need some better gloves if I'm gonna ride when it this cold. I got it done tho so there's that. 😁

Friday February 7

13 miles, 1hr 3 mins hill climbing + longer route.

Monday February 10

8.6 miles hill climbing + running errands. Took me a little over an hour but I stopped twice to shop. About 38 degrees coming back. 🥶

Tuesday February 11

10.5 miles, a little over an hour? Ran more errands and then rode on the bike trail.

Wednesday February 12

9 miles, not sure how long because I was riding to the doctor and back.

Friday February 14

13 miles or so, hill climbing + longer route. Not sure what my time was because I stopped at the store.

Saturday February 15

10.7 miles. Not sure what my time was as I stopped by the store again. Feeling pretty motivated right now.

8.1 miles, 30 mins? Not sure, late ass start cuz I had a bunch of errands.

Sunday March 1

5.4 + 8 miles, 40 mins to the store, 1 hr 25 mins total. Lots of hills.

Monday March 2

8.1 miles, 32 mins.

Wednesday Mach 4

8.9 miles

Sunday March 8


6 miles (38 mins) + 8 miles. 14 miles, 1hr 18 mins total. Had some stops tho so I don't how long I was riding.

11.4 miles, 50 mins. Stopped at a wilderness place.

Thursday March 12

12.1 miles. More stops again, not sure what my time was. I need to do some more timed rides.

7.8 miles hill climbing.

Monday March 16

Rode about 10 mins before my bike seat fell off. Power walked about 2 miles in 20 mins or so.

Wednesday March 18

Tried to ride today but my gears are slipping worse since I had my bike worked on. Looks like I'm gonna have to bite the bullet and have the cassette, wheel and chain and everything replaced. It's gonna break me but it's gotta be done or else I won't be riding.

Walked about 2 miles. HOPEFULLY will get my bike back tomorrow and it will be in working order.

Hey congrats on the improvement, hope you don't mind me posting on here I was wondering do you use a road bike, with the skinny tires? I've been biking for a couple weeks now but ive got 1.5 in. wide tires so hills can be pretty rough, been going over a bridge for the climbing experience and the total ride is usually 17 km or 10 miles though 2/3 of it is flat. These are some pics of my route from yesterday in interested

Hey, that's pretty cool. I'm on a Rock Hopper with 1.95 tires I believe, so not the fastest bike of all time. lol I like my bike tho. Thanks for checking my journal out.
 
Yea for sure, thought it was cool someone on this site had the same hobby. I had this Norco which probably was probably something like 2 grand brand new, think I payed like 250 used, the thing was great, hydraulic disk breaks, skinny ass tires, super light and regular straight handles which I liked so it was prefect for hills or just going as fast as you can.

Unfortunately had that stolen last year when I left it outside for less than a min, what I have now is heavy as hell its old and made of steel but it makes for a better workout I guess, wish I could go farther though. And yea as for the tires guess that's a preference thing as long as you like what you got, funnily enough had a tire and tube rip/pop the other day and the bike shop only had 1.25s so now I have a 1.25in on the front and a 1.5in on the back lol
