First, I read the guidelines about posting here and realize that most queries regarding combinations of drugs (ie Is low-dose Ritalin and DXM a good combo?) are not appropriate here, but this question is not about whether something is a good combo, but rather about the safety of taking two drugs together. If my posting is in the wrong place, I apologize in advance and will happily re-post in the correct forum if I know what forum that is.

I know that doing Amyl Nitrite poppers while taking ED medication such as Cialis or Viagra can cause a fatal drop in blood pressure, but what about inhaling Ethyl Chloride? Beyond the existing inherent risk of inhaling Ethyl Chloride, does it interact dangerously with ED medications the way Nitrites do? I've looked on drug interaction checkers and on the Cialis literature, but can't find anything, but I think that is because Ethyl Chloride is typically a topical treatment and not an inhalant.

Thank you!

This post seem to be in line with harm reduction you are not breaking any rules. This is more like a drug interaction question. However, I don't know about this subject in particular. Just wanted you to feel comfortable with the fact that if anybody here knows they will tell you.

The compounding effect between vasodilators is what are are trying to avoid as both poppers and ED meds dilate blood vessels. If you dilate too much then your blood pressure can drop, just picture going from a small pipe to a large pipe the more space for liquid causes a pressure drop. It is my belief, and I do not know for a fact, that ethyl-chloride will act more like ether and create intoxication without dilation.

You may want to wait for more information to come up in more posts but that is my guess.

Ethyl chloride can cause sudden sniffer's death, it is on my Don't Ever Use As An Inhalant list....

besides that, it's also a toxic chlorinated hydrocarbon which will damage liver, kidneys, nerves over time. Because it's a volatile gas, as it evaporates it will chill the container/surface it boils off of, so it can cause frostbite or cold burns if it gets on you. People have cold-burned their whole upper airway tract with inhalant aerosols before. You can actually stop your breathing by paralyzing the muscles used to breathe by shocking them with a burst of ethyl chloride. The stuff is seriously nasty. Don't inhale ethyl chloride, at all.

Poppers are nitric oxide releasers so they have a tendency to drop blood pressure very severely. Ethyl chloride is just a straight up intoxicant, so it can be expected to produce less of a blood pressure drop than amyl nitrite. But even then, I wouldn't risk combining it with anything.

Save it for a topical numbing spray, don't mess with inhaling ethyl chloride.

Thanks to those who replied!

So that begs the question - is there a popper like substance which can be legally obtained in the US and does not introduce the sudden blood pressure drop risk that nitrites introduce when taken in concert with ED medication? Specifically Cialis?
