Hello. I am just curious if this would be a dangerous outcome and what the risks of serotonin syndrome from this would be? Basically several years ago I was prescribed all of these drugs by the same psychiatrist (so he was aware of the combination) daily. I cannot remember if it was 20mg of Celexa or 40mg of Celexa. I stopped taking all but the amps a few years ago. I was reading about serotonin syndrome tonight (something that I've always been aware of but would only ever think about when I'd realize I'd hit the third plateau of DXM)

I have very little faith in doctors knowledge of drugs and always have (and still do) consider my psychiatrist more knowledgeable than the average Joe. I also like how he does not ever speak with pharmaceutical company representatives. We even discuss the implications and the effects of these reps on the drug system, as well as his experience years and years ago and why he stopped listening to them, not to mention his observation of bias in his colleagues. He does not hate the medical system and is not cynical, and obviously he is not without his own bias. However, he does not prescribe Adderall to children UNLESS they have tried all other forms as he believes it causes agitation and more problems than it solves.

Basically, I think most doctors and psychiatrists are uninformed egotistical pawns when it comes to psychiatric drugs. And I've always considered my psychiatrist to be less of a pawn, which is a compliment even if it does not sound like one. But it just hit me this seems like a bad drug cocktail as is not to mention serotonin syndrome in a young (15-16? maybe up to 17?) aged girl, especially considering the fact I had a fucking bad eating disorder (funnily enough it kicked in when I got put on Wellbutrin in the 8th grade after doctors telling my parents I would be locked in a ward if I didn't, but I bet those bastards were lying seeing as they let me go and a third party tried to drug me. Thankfully I flat out refused the Seraquil in 8th grade and the original antidepressant, and only agreed to take Wellbutrin after some googling saying it caused weightloss which I needed after a depressed daily icecream and chipotle habit xD) but hey, it's not like I ever mentioned I stopped getting my periods.

Was he irresponsible in the combination and dosage?

I don't have anything to contribute in regards to what you doctor wanted to prescribe you, but....

Don't Risk SS. I have suffered a moderate case, and 9 months later I still do not feel right mentally and physically.

How do you feel after serotonin syndrome? I hope it goes away :( if you don't mind, what caused it? Now I think about even though I know the symptoms n what not of SS I don't know jackshit about what you're supposed to do it it happens.. :/ Also I know my question was long so incase it was confusing I was prescribed this drug combo a while ago and have not taken it in several years, but looking back I'm wondering if it was a dangerous combo.

Hopefully you're brain returns to normal at some point, or whatever your interpretation of what is should be may be xD

I was taking 4FA, which stupidly unknown to me a very strong long acting stimulant. After the short term empathogenic effects had worn off, I continued to re-dose several times. 4-FA being so long acting stimulation wise this dosage build-up caused me SS.

I decided to redoes for about the 4th time, I was high. Immediately after re-dose its as if my body went into a reboot, and I Instantly felt sober, almost like I had an adrenaline rush/shot, I knew something was up.

Symptoms ;

-Rapid hear rate

'tiger stripe' raised rash on shoulders, upper chest, upper arms
-Very high body temperature
-Skin very hot to touch and flush
-Felt cold, was shivering, Goosebumps. (contrary to above)
- Vasoconstriction in arms and legs
- Severe stomach cramps (stomach was 'rumbling' as if I was hungry)
- Legs twitching uncontrollably

- Tingling scalp
- Severe mental confusion/brain fog (felt like my thought process was churning over and over but unable to 'think')
- Brain zaps
- Pressure headache

-Auditory hallucination (white noise)
-Visual hallucination (flicker vision, vision like an old black & white western movie)
-Hallucination of ticks/fleas all over my walls and body
-Faces on tv/pictures morphing into trolls/goblins

One of the scariest symptoms for me was the perception of time. I could look at the clock and only 60 seconds had past, but it had felt like 1 hour, and similarly I could look at the clock and 2 hours had past, and it felt like 60 seconds.

When the SS occurred, I had to wait it out, once the symptoms seemed to calm down (2-3hrs) I slept it off.

I experienced the below symptoms for 9 months after the SS

- Baseline mood, not sad, not happy.

When I should be experiencing emotion, I feel a strange 'negative' sensation in my brain

- No enjoyment of life or hobbies, no urge to socialise.
- Inability to experience laughter, excitement, thrill, fear, love, affection.
- No drive in life for goals, work, tasks
- ZERO libido, Never horny, no sexual thoughts, no fantasy, no lust.
-Poor orgasm

Brain fog, Poor concentration, Poor short term memory.
Muscle aches and burns
Fatigue
Night sweats
Unrefreshed from sleep
Headaches
Eye aches

Irritability
Lose of smell

I feel I am about 80-85% recovered from the above symptoms though.....
