Calcium hydroxide instead of KOH for kratom a/b extraction

I am about to make my first kratom a/b extraction. I was reading that KOH was recommended, but right now I have no access to KOH and was wondering if Calcium hydroxide would work?

the properties of calcium hydroxide (low solubility in water, will react with co2 in water to form calcium carbonate) make it seem like a bad alternative to KOH... weird to hear that you can't source it, since it is a widely used chemical, eg for pipe cleaning. NaOH should be available and practically equal.
