What do you guys do for fun? I'm so sick of sitting at home. Now that I'm on a low dose of subs sitting at home is even more boring than before. I've missed out so much that I can't think of much to do. Any ideas?

For me, I had to start small and had to do stuff at home even if I didn't want to.

I started by reading books instead of using any type of technology use(computers, TV, phone, etc.).
I then did a small workout for 20-40 minutes at home each day. You can also try meditation, yoga, etc. (I love Kundalini Yoga).
I taught myself how the stock market works so I can learn about investing.
I learned about the confusing jargon that is medical insurance and was better prepared when picking a plan the next year.
I started to volunteer - which seemed overwhelming at first, but I do it at an animal shelter, and it actually relaxes me.

Once I was able to get some stuff done at my own home, I then knew I could easily do stuff outside of it. I started to go on hikes; I would go fishing and really just being around nature, in general, helped me.

I know you want to leave your place and I mentioned I stayed in mine at first, but I think you could easily do these activities outside at a park or really anywhere. I guess depending on what your motivation is will determine what you might do. If you just need to shake the anxiety & withdrawal for a few days/weeks, then any kind of distraction for an extended period of time should work. If you are looking to get back to "normal" life, then I would suggest trying to build a routine or some kind of consistent plan each day.

Start small - doing something for 5 minutes is a huge win vs. putting it off and being miserable sitting at home. Then the next day try 7 minutes or 10 minutes and just try to build off of each accomplishment. The worst enemy is always the own mind telling you and worrying about things that are absolutely untrue, haven't and probably won't happen.

What kind of hobbies, interests, passions do you have? How about something you wanted to try but never have or even something you know absolutely nothing about and just go learn about it.

Great response above. Taking a class or volunteering are both great ways to feel productive while also meeting people. Really depends on your interests though

Definitely some great ideas. Unfortunately most of the things I sometimes like doing are mostly indoor. Video games, playing guitar, movies etc. Although I did go to the casino with my friends which was alright. Didn't like loosing my money though lol.

Idk I'm gonna make myself to go trader Joe's today or tomorrow to just look around and possibly whole foods. That's something I guess.

You can go to an arcade, mini golf course, a driving(golf) or shooting range(they have both indoors). I remember growing up I could go to my local library and play video games for free. You could also check out a museum or the zoo or something. If you don't want to spend money go to the mall and walk around, play your guitar outside somewhere. I am positive there is someone, somewhere who would love to hear your music, you could even make a Youtube video.

You could even go to a video game store(Gamestop I think it's called) and play their video free games they have on display for that exact purpose. *Disclaimer* I give you no promises this won't get extremely awkward after an hour or two haha.

I think the important thing here to remember is you can't always have your cake and eat it too. If you posted because you were looking for advice to get ideas from to apply to your own life than more than likely you are new at this or haven't done it in a while so a lot of ideas might seem a bit uncomfortable. I mean they aren't your ideas, and you would possibly have to step out of your comfort zone and try something different; which has to be one of the most difficult things to do, at least for me.

One thing I have noticed in my life is that my mind is an expert at finding a way to convince myself how terrible something is before I ever do or try it. The funny thing is basically every time I let go of that thought and just do something, no judgment, the opposite happens, and I end up having a great experience.

I wish you luck and hope to hear back from you about your experiences.

I like enjoying a movie and/or a great dinner with my wife: Cherish this more than all.
Not much fun even watching a good movie or eating without her... feels kinda weird.
Other than that customizing moto bike frames/welding/mechanics. Don't care for computer controlled mechanisms so mostly older combustible driven engines.
As soon as I get my attitude under control a little more I may try to actually go out and socialize (outside of work). Leaving the phone at home, of course.

Thanks guys.

Yeah, the mind thing sucks. Was finding reasons to not go out yesterday but I made my self look around at some stores for about 3-4 hours. Holy crap is whole foods expensive! Trader Joe's is a big better but tj seems like it's more my kind food. They both have awesome produce, way better quality than any regular supermarket.

Now that I did that I'm trying to figure out what to do today. Hard to come up with things to do. I might go to the library and check out their comic books.

Good ideas! Honestly the first step is just getting yourself up and out, and doing anything. Hopefully as you get more comfortable with it, you'll find or remember some activities that you really enjoy. If you live anywhere near nature, one of the very best things for me is to spend a lot of time exploring nature.

Hahaha you are preaching to the choir on that one! I remember the first time I went in there to buy supplements/vitamins was also the last time I bought anything from there. My bank account took a beating. As they say it's expensive to eat/be healthy(which I disagree). Trader Joe's is the best in my eyes but I do get overwhelmed in some of them when they are completely packed. Going during the day is waaay better. Not sure if you have a store called Sprout's by you but I would put them in the same category. I like them better than Whole Foods.

Good luck and keep it up. Obviously what you have done so far has worked so no reason to doubt yourself going forward!!

Yeah Whole Foods is ridiculous. Trader Joe's is much better but they also don't have as much stuff and to be honest the produce is not that good usually, it's much better at Whole Foods. But I usually go to a "regular" grocery store that has good food options, and pick and choose what I spend money on that's organic and such. Mostly it's important to eat real, whole foods... buying non-organic vegetables and cooking food is almost as good as buying organic vegetables and cooking food... buying freezer section or boxed crap is what you want to avoid. If I had a ton of money and could afford to shop at Whole Foods all the time I probably would, but it's too expensive to always use for everything.

I've shopped at Sprouts before when I visited Colorado and I like it better than Whole Foods, too.
