Another issue that's pissing me off is various symbols being replaced with question marks.

Also, several emoticons have disappeared from the little box. Can't do a winky face anymore...

Is me seeing my status as Invisible and whether people are offline or online been reported? I posted and then there was no edit button then I noticed it says "is Invisible" next to my nickname. I think that feature is disabled here in the forum software...

Also, the internet is acting strange overall to me since that stupidly named Key-Signing Key was applied by ICANN to update the internet dns backbone or whatever...it looks like they don't know what they're doing. It explains repeated calls from my ISP if I'm experiencing any internet issues since earlier last fall, then I didn't, but I've become aware of those issues when Youtube crashed for a few hours when they applied a patch or w/e. I'm paying quite enough for my 300/300 fibre internet.

i'm pretty sure it's related to the referer - if you click on a link to the url, your browser fills the http referer field and it's fine. if you go straight to it via a browser bookmark, no dice.

I have no post formatting at all now using Firefox or Chrome on Desktop. The icons are blank and the BB code doesn't work except emoticons.

1) I get booted from the site occasionally, and it's not because I don't check the box.
2) The heart from the smiley selection cuts off my post. I posted in STH about it ages ago and another user had the same issue but with a different smiley, I think.
3) The icons are text now, as are some buttons like "Edit/Delete". Icons are text in thread titles as well.
4) I can only get to the 'Words' forum with Full Site.
5) Sometimes quote/quote gets inserted into my post, usually for the first sentence, and I can't get rid of it. (The command disappears, so I wrote it.)

Hi, Tranced it still does not work when I sign in the non-secured site. It used to be that the icons and formatting were only hosed on the https login, but now http is hosed as well.

That is due to an outdated character set which is due to our archaic version of VB. XenForo will fix this & I'll add it to the bug list.

I pretty much only access the site through "what's new?" (full site). It's my 2nd favourite tab after the "Check Threads You've Posted In" tab (mobile)

It was my go-to for spotting posts in other forums I might not normally check or, as was often the case, spambots lol.

What's new works for me, but the home page doesn't. It sometimes appears to be related to bookmarks or something, if you use them, although Ali once said something about it being page referrals or something. Ali can you provide any more on that?

Bug 2: Login not being remembered. Every time I come here I seem to have to login. Sometimes I go to post a message and I'm logged out. Cloudflare maybe? (Edit:I had to login again to post this, even though I was already logged in. Point proven.

I'm also checking the 'remember my password' box, and then I tend to get logged out in between making a new post and pressing reply. I just recently noticed it started happening fairly recently. cduggles which browser and operating system are you using? PC/laptop or phone?

FTR I'm using the latest Firefox 64 bit, and Windows 7.

This is happening because the tiny little dot image that would normally sit beside your name to indicate your status (online, offline, invisible) isn't loading; you're just getting the placeholder text instead.

Bug 4: Certain characters (currency symbols etc) showing up as question marks. This is due to an outdated character set because of our archaic version of vBulletin. It will be fixed with XenForo, because XenForo will come as standard with modern, compatible character sets. IIRC it originally started because a couple of users really wanted to use ASCII art, and the character sets were fiddled with.

And that database presumably wasn't formatted with the current character set, so spewed out lots of garbled stuff. We tried a few character options thereafter, but none fully resolved things. I think we may also have determined that it might be cause by this (or similar): vBulletin does not recognize special characters

Am I right in thinking that bug 6: text formatting/buttons/smileys/post icons etc seem to be all messed up/missing is generally getting progressively worse for people? I noticed like one formatting problem the other day, and now it seems that everything is gradually disappearing.

Also, it appears nearly all of those are looking for the .../aria folder, which is the current style. I'll open Festivus back up for staff in a bit, just so they can see thru a completely different sytle and see if it persists. Fwiw, we have about 10 styles, and only 2 are available to members (both being built upon aria). I'll see if I can make blacklight available to switch to as well. I will state, however, that I (being an admin) can switch to any of the styles and I'm getting (different) broken stuff when I go with the damn vb Default style.


To answer Tranced's question - yes, it is getting progressively worse over the past several weeks. You can see my post in the other STH thread where I had some imgs, cleared my cache and now have no imgs. You may also want to close that thread and harvest issues to this list if THIS is the issue thread.

Theory is, some imgs aren't broke because their cached. This makes some sense, because they are ALL in the same folder on the server with the same permissions, so it isn't like we should see some but not others. Cache would explain that.



EDIT: Nevermind about the other styles. System has installed:

So, I've made the default available, as well as the Aria Fluid v4.1.4, but any of the others will seek the same .../aria image folder and give no difference.
