Dear Bluelight Staff,

I joined this site on an impulse, but realize I do not belong here and do not want to leave an incriminating trail of posting in a drug forum. How does one leave this site and delete ones account? I spent a good half-hour searching for info and figured I should just post a question. Thanks!

Thanks!

I did all that and must have made a mistake or misunderstood. After following those instructions I can still log in. I don't care about deleting posts. How do I delete access?

you leave by leaving :)

Your point wasn't lost on me. It's just I don't like to leave loose ends. Leaving and not coming back means my account could be stolen or compromised. It means a rogue admin could sell my a list of active email accounts to the KGB for coke money (seems you are possibly a Russian site).

Seems you have a system of bans in place. Could I just get banned? Like request it, or do I have to actually do it? Kind of a silly system if you ask me, but whatever, I'll play along

Warnings and BansWarnings Warnings are issued by staff when a member violates the site user agreement (BLUA) or forum specific guidelines (you should be aware of any forum guidelines before posting). Warnings are worth 0 pts. They are typically only given after a first offense to let the member know that what they have done is against the rules.
Infractions Infractions are issued by staff when a more severe offense has taken place, or when warnings have not gotten the message across. Infractions are worth 1 pt and generally expire in 1 year. Infractions can be made to be worth more points, but this is rare and can only be done by sr staff, and only after some discussion has taken place on the matter. Multiple infractions will lead to temporary bans. The length of the ban depends on the number of infractions, and is as follows:
2 points = 1 day
3 points = 3 days
4 points = 7 days
5 points = 2 weeks
6 points = 1 month
7 points = 3 months
8 points = 6 months
9 points = 1 year
10 points = 2 years

As you can see, we give you plenty of opportunity to change your behavior before you start getting in to really long bans.
Temporary Bans These are now done automatically by the system depending on the number of infractions. Creating an alt (a new username) during a temp ban will result in the alt account being banned permanently, and an infraction being added to the original account.
Permanent bans These are intended to kill the account as the behaviour is not acceptable on our site. Senior staff may issue one regardless of the number of warnings, dependent upon the situation (for example, spammers are given no freedom - once identified, they are banned outright).
The idea of permanent bans raises a question - can the member just register a new account and start over? It is possible to start life anew under a different username, but in most cases these persons will not have changed the behaviour that got them banned in the first place and are easily spotted. This new account may survive if they remain unnoticed and non-disruptive, but if we identify them as a previously banned person we will treat them as carrying their past with them. There is no 'reset' of warnings with a fresh count.
For more information on the new system, please visit the following thread: Changes To Our Site Disciplinary System

Come on guys, obviously you are just busting my balls here. This is being ignored. Come on, ban me bro! Next, I'll start spamming this site for reals.

To All Reading: obviously you are not free to leave this site. Not really. This is not ethical

Top right of any page has your username and "Settings". Click the "Settings".

On the left, under "My Account" is "Edit email and password". Click on those, and change your email to a keyboard-smash (must include an @anything.com so it looks like an email addy). Then edit your password to a keyboard-smash.

At that point, we have no email for you which we can sell...and if we tried, it would never point to you.
The only way anyone could access your account at that point is if they used the password reset, which sends a reset notice to your email, which is garbage at this point (it won't reach you and bother you, and they can't get it).

FTR, we don't sell email addresses, or anything else from our site information. The only revenue we get is from donations and researchers posting asking for volunteers to take surveys. If we were really going for revenue, you'd see ads all over the place before you'd see us selling email lists.

Hi

Delete your history and cookies, use a VPN whatever that is or incognito mode.

You only have a few posts so just log out and I swear your parents could use the viagra.

Thanks LoveBandit, that's a bit backwards but it'll work. Appreciate the help. Not sure why I can't just delete my account but that's cool. Too many Nazis and Satanists on this site for my taste (not speaking about anyone posting here). Thanks Zephyr, my daddy has a big penis and lots of stamina and you are welcome to sit on his face if you like.

lmao...nice.

= = =

One side note on why we DONT delete accounts would be because people tend to use a username across most sites they visit. If an account is deleted (as opposed to abandoned) the username becomes available again and someone may grab it, impersonate you, and ruin your dad's erection. If you abandon it, nobody can re-use that name on this site.

You can always not leave and just realize no one gives a fuck mate

or incognito mode.

I'd recommend TOR.

to add to tlb's comments, even if we did delete the account, you don't need an account to view most forums and if you decided you wanted to start posting again you can just create another account which takes 30 seconds.

so you can create a fuss, demand people delete your account, threaten to waste their time if they don't or, you know, just leave...

:)

"I can ban your account with the press of a button" is another way of saying it and you have thrown that around you Ali, besides I'm pretty sure volunteering here would mean handling ppl either off their tits on research chems, going through personal dramas and such, so asking for an account deletion would save time compared to the amount taken discussing us and cataloging our post histories, forming hive opinions and eventually banning us anyway.

Actually helping and being an approachable person example being CFC does mean time and effort so I doubt ppl who aren't even willing to press a button would consider that without freaking out.:(

Toothpaste dog said in one of those shitfight support threads here that this ban system was going to be reviewed, this was a long time ago and I guess this would have been either forgotten or not going to happen and lies.

Either way, it's what we are stuck with .

Reading it makes me cringe tbh.

Just on the deleting posts, changing password etc alternative to removing your own account, is there any way to get an option for "select all posts" and "delete all posts" for the non staff as that would give us some way of removing ourselves should we need to for whatever reason and not have to seriously take forever one by one?

Or option to delete posts by thread or forum, which anyone can do anyway, just one at a time?

Maybe the new software has that option and its not a big deal, but accounts can be deleted on other platforms so its food for thought yo provide something other than justv change password etc

Deleting an account complete with all posts is fairly easy isn't it, like with dumb alts thst pop up.

Is there any problems seen with this as I could see delete post regret later yet not really as undelete could be available.
