When I first heard drum and bass way back in 1993 time or 1994 time when it began and evolved out of the rave scene before, it had raw breakbeats and a decent sub bass, still didn't really like it much as it was the rave scene splitting into sub genres to sell commercially. But now drum and bass is unrecognisably noisey trash, listen to friction on radio 1, absolutely crap nonsense and just noisey electronicas now! If I went to a club listening to that I'd end up with a massive migraine I reckon! BBC try to be underground and appeal to youth but they must be sick of it too! I don't know anybody who listens to radio 1 anymore, I might tune in for 20mins just to see what latest is but I'm always dissatisfied with it. Nothing seems real in music anymore? What you think?

We went though that in the 80's and real instruments returned in the 90's. Perhaps they will return again. I hope so.

Drum and bass has been totally done to death and has just become a cliche. I personally think some of the most fresh and interesting music is coming out of Romania right now. Minimalist house acts such as Octave, Mrsch, Cosmjn, Ion Ludwig, Barac.

These youtube channels post good stuff daily.

Oh I dunno, nothing posted here appeals to me, maybe I'm too old for this shit now. Maybe I should get another hobby!

tbph i'm not feeling the other recommendations in this thread either. i love dnb but i listen to nearly all the new releases and have to agree there's far too much cookie-cutter noise-for-DJs at 175bpm than actual music.

having said that, High Contrast just released a new album I'm really digging. this is how i think albums should sound, like memorable musical experiences with some variety and emotion and not just an uncoordinated collection of "hard" singles for the screwfaced crowd.

I like Concord Dawn, Black Sun Empire, Noisia. Just digging around the UKF Drum n Bass channel and I like some of the new tunes coming out. But yeah, it feels like it's been done to death, so there needs to be a new awakening within the drum and bass genre. But as far as the Drum n Bass scene, it's really big in Russia right now. They keep having Drum nd Bass festivals there with loads of ppl coming out.

I listen to psytrance when drum and bass isn't cutting it for me. If you like neurofunk check out some dark psy.
