Gibberings CCIXV2 - And Now For Something Completely Different

As I'm sure many of you may have noticed, the previous Gibberings thread took on a rather specific theme. Clearly the situation surrounding Evey and several other members has gotten way out of hand and needed to be addressed. The situation has been addressed and this new incarnation of Gibz is not here to continue as if nothing has happened.

Those who are directly involved have all received PMs setting out the changes that are to be required. Those who are not directly involved are respectfully asked to stick to other topics and not speculate on what those changes are because we do not want a rerun of the last Gibz thread. Change should be noticeable by an outbreak of things other than Evey and Evey-related matters being discussed. Posts speculating - and quite frankly even bringing up for now - all things Evey will be removed to give the changes a chance to... well... to actually change.

Obviously everybody will want to know what has happened and whilst it would not be appropriate to reveal any specifics I will simply say that Evey has been asked to address certain aspects of her posting and some other members have been asked to allow a bit of breathing space - and I would ask everybody else to please do the same. I do realise this sounds like more of the same but I can assure you it is not. You'll just have to take my word for it and we'll all have to wait and see what happens.

The Spaghetti growing on trees one from many decades ago was a good one. I was a very young kid when i first saw that clip being played, and i believed for months that spaghetti did grow on trees until the subject next got raised at some extended family gathering. I was arguing that 'Spaghetti does grow on trees, I saw it on the TV'.

I cannot recall how or when i discovered that the whole thing was an April Fools gag. The most likely resolution was that i probably finally found someone who had seen the clip, and they explained that it was an April Fools joke. I dont think anyone in my family had a clue what i was on about, which i guess is probably perfectly reasonable if you had not seen the gag i would imagine it could be quite awkward and embarrassing to have to deal with a child obsessed about Spaghetti growing on trees.

Interesting (*does air quotes motion*) thing is, we're actually starting to get tools at work now to easily do this sort of thing for games, I've already been using a tool called (aptly, for a drug enthusiast) Substance Designer for a couple of years now to make textures, no more mashing up photos yay! And a slightly more scientific approach to surface treatment to go with it. I've not used Houdini (which I think is used primarily in the article) much but I'm certain it could be used to create entirely procedural environments, not just terrain but settlements other man made constructions too. You just supply the rules (and hopefully some additional 3D models else I'm out of a job), but get a different world each time.

tl;dr I get to look at fractals all day basically :D

I know Ill lose the porn but I have to acknowledge Shambles post - well done on the reeboot - its a new week - sprung is springing and liveuntamed's comment describes something that should be standard whenever a lurker or someone who needs a credible source of knowledge on drugs comes across Bluelight (no sexual innuendo intended for all those giggling at the back).
