It was definitely an exciting last inning for the Yankees. Had me on the edge of my seat.
Great game.
Now the Yanks are back with a vengeance today with a 3 run homer in the first inning.
That'll wake Syndergaard up.
Good win by the yanks
pineda had a good outing i was happiest about that
Tonight I'd say CC exceeded all expectations, everyone wants to talk about CC the washed up fat fuck, but he's a washed up fat fuck with moments of brilliance. He
Yeah, Pineda was impeccable yesterday, shame I was absorbed by work and wasn't able to take it all in but the end results are certainly satisfactory, shutout post 5 with good relief and run sport.
Tonight I'd say CC exceeded all expectations, everyone wants to talk about CC the washed up fat fuck, but he's a washed up fat fuck with moments of brilliance, sometimes 7 or 8 innings of brilliance and was at least once pulled out of a potential no hitter because of Girardi's paranoia. Always seems to me that he has a particular talent for getting in to trouble and getting out, loading the bases with 1 or 2 outs, and then just pitching his heart out to end the inning. Dunno if there's a stat for that or if sabermetriics would bear it out but that's always been my feeling as a fan. Of course, sometimes he gets in trouble and fucks up and it's disastrous. Each start is a bit of a gamble. You can see flashes of brilliance even in the man's bad starrts, just not consistency, you never know what you're gonna get. Tonight, it was brilliance with good run support. Matt Harvey was just fine giving up 2 runs, nothing to complain about, but in his relief not so much. I myself put this down to the Mets' undue preoccupation with inning and pitch counts, which, let's be honest, has only been a part of this game for some period of recent history. He could've gone further and it might've been a more entertaining game and maybe we wouldn't have won, but anyway, barring a rout of the Jays or an utter collapse of the Mets, we're looking at playoffs in Queens and wildcard game in the bronx against Texas of Minnesota, so the only question to me as a Yankees fan is the current depleted roster up to the pressure? My inner optimist of course says but I don't know
The Mets fans, and a lot of other NL fans, however, I think have their perceptions distorted by the number of shit teams in their league/divisions. St Louis for example statistically alleged to be the best team of baseball, well, look at the competition ... this has a history of ending badly ... look at last year's WS, two wildcard teams. The playoff structures and new rules have really rearranged things and make it more interesting whether you can debate their other virtues or not. Me I'm glued to the TV/radio every time the Yanks play and to a lesser extent I'm following the Mets. It's like this, I'm happy when the Mets win, because they're my neighbours, but except when they play the Yankees, because then, fuck them, y'know?
