would be seen as "promoting drug use" no doubt - and we cant be having that, still so behind in our ways.

Yeah, I think that would be far too rational and forward-thinking. :/

Although I think it's the sort of thing the Green Party promote in their manifestos.

Because the people running the show really would prefer you to die than get high.

Out of interest how do these sites operate? I know some countries drug laws are more liberal than our own, but surely they're still illegal? Is it something that is done in house or do they rely on a network of like minded people / sympathetic scientists with access to lab equipment?

I'm sure I've seen programs based in the UK where things have been tested so I know it's possible. Maybe it's just a case that no one has set up the equivalent over here yet?

However, for all I know those sites could be publicly funded and regulated. Just thinking / typing out loud....

I am not sure how many of them are govenment funded, even the US has a testing website.. though it is funded by people like erwoid and dance safe among others, I think they are mostly independent but can run legally due to scientific purposes? There must be some allowance of these sites to operate and receive drugs in the mail legally.

Why the UK still does not have one baffles me, Germany, Spain, Holland, Austria, Switzerland.. it would also improve the pill scene dramatically like Holland if we had a testing service but I think thats too much to ask.

i can already see people lining up and asking if can you snort marquis reagents and such :p

I really think Ireland needs something like this, especially with the number of deaths in the last 12 months or so. Unfortunately I can't see this happening anytime soon, north or south. I bet even suggesting that we use the dutch testing lab methods which has proven benefits would be seen as the promotion of "dangerous drugs".

Iv seen an increase in HR pages on facebook so maybe if they keep it up and collect enough info, the government might begin to wake up and make a move on this. At the end of the day, people are dying and people will take drugs regardless so if the government really cared about the lives of the public they would offer these services, its a no brainer. But of course money is involved which they prefer to spend on other things...

There is one, I can't remember what it's called, but I'll try to find it, it's based in Wales and the website has a red theme. It's illegal to send controlled drugs through the post in the UK, so they are ostensibly only testing purported RCs, but practically I think it's the same thing.

I very nearly used Wedinos just recently but didn't have to due to being a bit reckless and a bit sure of what was actually the case (and turned out I was right so... just reckless then ). Shame they're so strict on the Welsh only thing. No idea why they can't extend that to UK wide at least. Probably funded by the Welsh Assembly so have to stick within the borders is as best as I can guess. Seem to provide an excellent service for anybody who does live within Welsh borders or knows somebody who does though. Either way, the more the better. Is common sense.

in a few european countries they have sites like these that have lab results from many different drugs and upto date information and warnings.

I'll add Jellinek and Trimbos, in the Netherlands. Both do marquis/reagent and GC MS.
5 euro per test sample, need to wait a week for results.

Blimey. A HR-related scenario that's actually better in Wales than in Holland?!? 8o

Week or so for results for nothing more than the cost of a stamp... unless somebody happens to live beyond the border who'd perhaps have to pay for two stamps for the remailing cost. I'd always assumed all such services were free cos I don't know many (any to be honest) people who'd use it if they charged on top of having to send off a sample and wait.

The mroe the merrier all the same :)

(may have to find a place to sticky this thread given the number and range of services mentioned so far...)

i think you can send samples from all over the UK = WEDINOS is a harm reduction project, and reflects trends in substance use. It is therefore important that samples are submitted with a completed 'Effects Record' and correct postcode information, including samples from outside of Wales. This does not affect your anonymity
