Neil Young - The Needle and the Damage Done.

The line "every junkie's like a setting sun..."
Definitely. Also, the following:
Hurt - NIN
Comfortably Numb - Pink Floyd
River of Deceit - Mad Season
Dirt - Alice in Chains
Godsmack - Alice in Chains
Frogs - Alice in Chains
Well, this list would take forever, but I can shorten it by saying pretty much any AiC and/or Mad Season song.
Plus: Low - Cracker
And: Sober - Tool
I'm sure there are many more I can't think of off the top of my head.

When it comes to writing about heroin as a 'lover', no one does it better IMHO than Coldplay. Among their best are many tracks from their album A Cold Rush of Blood to the Head.

I love the following:

Warning Sign
"...come on in
I've got to tell you
what a state I'm in"

Amsterdam
"Stuck on the end of this ball and chain
And I'm on my way back down again"

Clocks
"And nothing else compares
And nothing else compares
And nothing else compares"

Greeneyes
"I came here with a load
And it feels so much lighter
Now I met you
And honey you should know
That I could never go on without you"

This is the closest I can come. The breakdown samples Letters from Xiola. One of my all time favourite tracks. <3

Ryan Adams "Strawberry Wine":

Don't spend too much time on the other side
Let the daylight in
Before you get old and you can't break out of it
My old friend
'Cause its getting winter, and if you want any flowers
You gotta get your seeds in to the ground
And I worry about you
Why? Because you want me to.
------------------------------------------------

That's the chorus, I feel tremendous guilt every time I hear that song because I've been spending way too much time on "the other side" and haven't been letting the daylight in. I think I've grown too comfortable being in the darkness. The light hurts my eyes, but what hurts the most is how I let myself stay stuck in a rut with my demons.

This song is worth listening to. It's all about breaking out of your bad habits before it's too late. Ryan Adams has a lot of incredible songs, mostly written while high on drugs: heroin, coke, the works. He cleaned himself up and got his shit together though.

Oh wow. This is way before I found out he was emotionally abusive to women and was busy texting a 14 year old girl. He's still a brilliant musician though, fucker.

Dandy Warhols: "Not if you were the last Junkie on Earth"

Spiritualized: "I Think I'm in Love"

Lou Reed: "Waiting For The Man"

De Ja Vu by Eminem. Amazing lyrics and I personally can relate to different parts of the song.

Junkhead- Alice in Chains
the figurehead- The Cure
Just One Fix- Ministry
blow up the outside world- soundgarden

ten crack commandments- Notorious BiG
peruvian cocaine- immortal technique

mind playin tricks on me- geto boys
jane says- jane's addiction

'Sick and Twisted Affair' by My Darkest Days. My interpretation about using Heroin (or your drug of choice) and hiding your 'habit'. Its pretty good actually, check it out!
