TDS Your Favorite Quotes; Vs "I Have a Dream"

"Concerning aggressiveness, I was even worse as a player than I am today. I had that final game mentality: Everything is at stake! And I was afraid to behave that way as a private person once I quit my career. Would I slide my wife from behind, would I ram her over the stove? Fortunately that's not the case."

- Jürgen Klopp, coach of Borussia Dortmund

"A bird perched on a branch does not fear the branch breaking, for its faith lies not on the branch, but on its wings that carry it. Always believe in yourself."

"The way to gain a good reputation, is to endeavor to be what you desire to appear." ~Socrates

Lately I've been feeling like the longer you stare at yourself the harder you are on yourself. When you're stuck in self reflection all you feel that will help is working on those bits of you that you see in another. We need to open up and accept everyone for who they are, not for what we think our capabilities in them can be.

"The searching-out and thorough investigation of truth ought to be the primary study of man." ~Cicero

We can make a lot more progress if we get to the point quicker. Staying on topic and to the point allows for the greatest success in an avenue of life. I think the truth can only set you free. We have much time to spare if we spare ourselves the heartache of lies.

"I have the simplest tastes. I am always satisfied with the best." ~Oscar Wilde

Knowing what's best for you shouldn't be the problem; I just want what suites me the most - I want to stop putting so much thought into what should just be mine.

"I beg to differ - why must we lie to ourselves knowingly (take away rationalities) to keep our sanity when all truth does is reveal our humanity?" ~me

I look forward to reading others favorites!

Our memories, our choices, and our experiences are all we have left in the end.
At the end of the game, the queen and the pawn go back into the same box.

Don't know where I got this but I got it somewhere.

Government cannot be done away with instantaneously,

but progress will come, as it has in the past by
lessening the number of laws. We want less governing,
and the Ideal Government will arrive when there is no
government at all.

So long as governments set the example of killing their
enemies, private individuals will occasionally kill
theirs. So long as men are clubbed, robbed,
imprisoned, disgraced, hanged by the governing class, just
so long will the idea of violence and brutality be born in
the souls of men.

Governments imprison men, and then hound them when
they are released.

Hate springs eternal in the human breast.

And hate will never die so long as men are taken from useful
production on the specious plea of patriotism, and
bayonets gleam in God's pure sunshine.

And the worst part about making a soldier of a man is,
not that the soldier kills brown men or black men or
white men, but it is that the soldier loses his own soul.

I am an Anarchist.

I do not believe in bolts or bars or brutality. I make
my appeal to the Divinity in men, and they, in some
mysterious way, feeling this, do not fail me. I send
valuable books without question, on a postal card
request, to every part of the Earth where the mail can carry
them, and my confidence is never abused. The Roycroft
Shop is never locked, employees and visitors come and go at
pleasure, and nothing is molested. My library is for
anyone who cares to use it.

Out in the great world women occasionally walk off the dock in
the darkness, and then struggle for life in the deep waters.
Society jigs and ambles by, with a coil of rope, but
before throwing it demands of the drowning one a
certificate of character from her Pastor, or a letter of

recommendation from her Sunday School
Superintendent, or a testimonial from a School
Principal. Not being able to produce the document the
struggler is left to go down to her death in the darkness.

A so-called "bad woman" is usually one whose soul is
being rent in an awful travail of prayer to God that she may
get back upon solid footing and lead an honest life. Believing
this, the Roycroft principle is to never ask for such a
preposterous thing as a letter of recommendation from
anyone. We have a hundred helpers, and while it must
not be imagined by any means that we operate a
reform school or a charitable institution, I wish to say that I
distinctly and positively refuse to discriminate between "good"
and "bad" people. I will not condemn, nor for an
instant imagine that it is my duty to resolve myself into a
section of the Day of Judgement.

I fix my thought on the good that is in every soul and
make my appeal to that. And the plan is a wise one,
judged by results. It secures you loyal helpers, worthy

friends, gets the work done, aids digestion and tends to
sleep o'nights. And I say to you, that if you have never
known the love, loyalty and integrity of a proscribed
person, you have never known what love, loyalty and
integrity are.

I do not believe in governing by force, or threat, or any
other form of coercion. I would not arouse in the heart of
any of God's creatures a thought of fear, or discord, or
hate or revenge. I will influence men, if I can, but it shall
be only by aiding them to think for themselves; and so
mayhap, they, of their own accord choose the better
part — the ways that lead to life and light.

Elbert Hubbard- Jesus Was An Anarchist (1939)

<3^ i say increase the number of laws until they have no chance of enforcing any, but the golden rule.. the combining of acceptance and responsibility are the first keys imo...

Sorry for making the other thread (I think neversick moved my post/combined it into here). It was my fault for not looking harder. I saw the others in archives and I assumed nothing was made since then, excuse me for my ignorance.

Anyway...

The idea does not belong to the soul; it is the soul that belongs to the idea.

~ Charles Sanders Peirce

We cannot solve our problems with the same thinking we used when we created them

It's ok. I merged it in here for you. We try to encourage people to leave the creation of new social threads to the moderators so we can close the old ones at the same time, otherwise we end up with multiple versions.

"For the love of a tree, she went out on a limb.

For the love of the sea, she rocked the boat.

For the love of the earth, she dug deeper.

For the love of community, she mended fences.

For the love of the Stars, she let her light shine.

For the love of spirit, she nurtured her soul.

For the love of a good time, she sowed seeds of happiness.

For the love of the Goddess, she drew down the moon.

For the love of nature, she made compost.

For the love of a good meal, she gave thanks.

For the love of family, she reconciled differences.

For the love of creativity, she entertained new possibilities.

For the love of her enemies, she suspended judgement.

For the love of herself, she acknowledged her worth.

And the world was richer for her. "

This was a bookmark given to me by Herbavore...this is who I've been reminding myself I want to be. <3

That's a beautiful quote Ocean <3

<3^ i say increase the number of laws until they have no chance of enforcing any, but the golden rule.. the combining of acceptance and responsibility are the first keys imo...

Either would accomplish what is necessary %)

Personally i'd be content with life, if i saw, just for a moment, a sense of fundamental solidarity in opinion/thoughts of mankind. The idea that the government is for the people, of the people, and theirs to claim for the commonwealth and good.

Not as a tool to rob/deprive those who earned their fortunes and managed them responsibly and honestly, to be taken by thieves and squandered away a mere fraction of what is involuntarily confiscated, in return. All the while the pigs running the game, the thieves, will always exist, making away with the wealth of a nation, the wealth CREATED by citizens, STOLEN, and squandered/hoarded by a small gang of thieves with a monopoly on violence.

They will take all there is to take, you cannot stand idly by and let them legislate themselves out of existence. Theres a chance for resurrection. A chance to make a more perfect country than the day it was birthed. A chance for all to make a life for themselves, if they afford the effort and thought necessary to maintain a democracy.

I say we cut the cancer out, rather than burn this motherfucker down pootie, or let the thieves do the same. There's always time to change the road your on.........

It just lacks what i feel alot of people have had taken from them. Attentiveness and care taking of their country, the family, community, society, neighbors, the environment, ecology/biology, which is often associated with lack of giving a shit in more areas than that. The one that leaves the most sour taste in my mouth is the apathetic attitude people have for learning, or being satisfied.

The best examples put in place by forces that drive evolution of ecology and everything else, do not show these attributes. The dead ends, the failed mutations, the ignorance, the stagnation, the contentedness, it is counterproductive inherently. But do not punish those who succeed for making the right decisions. Do not penalize/take from those who CREATED their wealth, and use it to afford others the chance to do so themselves. Punish the ones who associate themselves with a gang of thieves, crooks, scum, that trade favors for favors, at the expense of the general public welfare.

I'd rather see the world come together and clean up the mess we let perpetuate, than more damage be done. Enough suffering has taken place already. And for fucks sake, lets take all that imperialistic centralized power, and spread it around, real good and even. Accountability is a far more sharp tool at small scales, corruption is easier to weed out, secrets are not so easily concealed.

I argue neither for libertarianism, conservatism, liberalism, socialism, aristocracy, fascism, or any political ideology. Just a balanced government, that serves only the citizens, not what was so eloquently called a "thievery corporation".

^ nice:)

@daytryptr.. "making away with the wealth of the world, the wealth CREATED by citizens, STOLEN, and squandered/hoarded by a small gang of thieves with a monopoly on violence" why do these people do this, why do they want to.. wtf do they get out of this? I have never understood that upper echelon greed that core group, "the worlds elite".. they just keep stacking it up, manipulating the masses, but seemingly getting a whole bunch of worthless shit with all their evil.

“A consistent soul believes in destiny, a capricious one in chance.” ~Benjamin Disraeli

I'm definitely one to be considered capricious, saw this quote and thought it suited me well.
