Methadone Withdrawal Question

Hello, am new here and was hoping to get some answers for my question... I have been addicted to percs for over 10 years and decided to get off them and went to methadone clinic 3 weeks now on 40mgs a day. Is it true that since only been doing methadone for 3 weeks the withdrawal symptoms will not be as bad as someone that have been doing them for a longer period of time? Today is the first day of cold turkey withdrawal and am lucky to have a supportive wife that is there for me during this time. Any pointers would help me a lot to get through the withdrawals :)
