Cheek swab drug test

So when i went into my PO's office today, instead of a UA i was given what looked like a thermometer with a swab at one end. I think it was called a Whacktall, or something like that....I remember thinking it was a strange name, but that could have just been my PO, he has a strange sense of humor. Anyways, the basic procedure was to swab each cheek ten times, then hold it under my tongue for 5 minutes.

Does anyone know how effective these are? Are they easier to fool than a piss test? It seems like they wouldnt be as effective, but i dont know.
