EMD Lets Talk Trance - The New and Official Trance Discussions Thread

fairly new to the scene but i dove in head first....there's something about trance that is so fulfilling enjoying and hard to describe at the same time it's like a lost love that i've been reunited with, explains so much with just sounds

I've always been a bit uncomfortable with the sepration of specific genres in dance music. I lived the free party scene ( as well a frequenting a few club do's) from 91-2000 and saw the terms change and mutate. I loved the early hardcore sound..which is now called "old Skool" or in some cases Drum and Bass.

But for most people I knew we migrated from Hardcore to Trance mainly at the harder end. To give you a flavour of the type of trance that floats my boat=D

Nexus 6 - Tres Chic + warehouse + 20K rig =D

FloorPlay - Sensation - Probably one of my all time fav tunes..just put it on repeat and turn out the light on your way out!

Here is a pretty cool modern (mid to late 2000s) trance track:

Michael Dow - Ascent

1998 by Binary Finary is just out of this world! I literally can't stop listening to it! It's too bad that most trance producers these days tend to sound pretty generic.

Nadia Ali has an amazing voice, I was fortunate enough to hear her sing live at Armin Only recently :D

Not to mention she is quite the eye candy ;)

I love most of the trance made in the early and mid 90s. Modern day trance is shit though...

About 100 songs with the same melody.

Why do that? It's not even a good melody to begin with. 8)

Heh. That's funny. I remember I used to say "Man, I'll always love trance!" I couldn't understand why people who were into EDM didn't like trance. I get it now lol. It just seems to be something most people "move on from".

That said this album will always have a place in my heart:
Tranceport is a mix album released by Paul Oakenfold in 1998

And BT's Godspeed is definitely one of my favorite tracks of all time. I had it played at my wedding heh.

Massive trance fan here, although it is not what it once was, I find a lot of today's trance very uninspiring and boring... but there is still enough out there to keep me happy :)

Nalin and Kane - Beachball

I love this track. *wiggle* it's giving me chills right now. I remember when I first heard this track I could not get enough of it. I showed it to my dad thinking that he would agree and find it a relaxing track.

He said it made him want to hit someone! 8o

Thanks for posting that, faved. :D

But it also has to be good. IME, if it's predictable mainstream trance, it starts to take away from the magic of MDMA. I just can't stand explicit commercialism. :)

My top 3:
1. Armin van Buuren
2. Above & Beyond
3. Tie between: Gareth Emery, Markus Schultz, and Ferry Corsten
