I just have to ask about this great friggin movie. How can it be a lucid dream if he's not aware of it? I realize he eventually becomes aware, but I read the definition of a lucid dream and it cleary states---when someone is aware their dreaming.

I know this is off topic but I read that the 12 disciples of Jesus were all crucified and all wouldn't deny his resurrection. Now I can understand dying for a belief, but why would they lie about his resurrection? You dig?

I'm just curious if anyone knows about The Case For Christ book and the 12 disciples all saying he rose from the dead and saw him rise, only to be crucified. Is this true?

I saw both films...and I loved Vanilla and respected Open Your Eyes, but it was more subtle, Vanilla just had more of a kick to it. Sometimes subtle films are better, but Vanilla just went apeshit and I loved it!

The whole film is open to interpretation, if you want to believe that he hooked up with her, so be it.

I finally got around to seeing this movie a few years ago having heard nothing but endless negativity.

But I love bad movies so I was happy to watch it

Its been a while so I don't remember a lot of it, but I do remember finishing it and going "that wasn't THAT bad, there's a billion worse movies". Granted the "I swallowed your cum" line came so out of left field it was hilarious, but otherwise it doesn't deserve the level of hate it gets.

I didn't know this was considered a bad film.

It explores themes like: free will, the affect of pop culture on people, greed, vanity, happiness, love (or the absurdity of it) and of course dreams.
As well as the science fiction aspects and some form of existentialism similar to The Matrix.

The role played by Penelope Cruz was one of the most endearing characters of all the films I have seen.

I don't know if that scene of Jason Lee kissing her is up to interpretation although I noticed its in black and white.

If you believe the ending explains the entire film then I would agree that Jason Lee probably hooked up with Penelope Cruz.
