Border security filmed seemingly encouraging teen to drink liquid meth two hours prior to his death

Government surveillance video has emerged of the moment two officers seemingly encouraged a high school student to drink liquid methamphetamine, two hours prior to his death.

In the video, obtained by ABC News in the US and filmed in 2013, two US Customs and Border Protection officers are seen smiling to each other as they appear to encourage 16-year-old Cruz Velazquez to drink from a bottle of yellow liquid.

The liquid was later proven to be methamphetamine, which had been liquefied.

Cruz died within two hours of ingesting the substance.

No disciplinary action been taken against the two officers seen in the video, Valerie Baird and Adrian Perallon, who remain on the job.

The former head of internal affairs at U.S. Customs and Border Protection, James Tomsheck, said their actions clearly violated agency protocols.

“If they truly suspected there was a controlled substance in the bottle they should've conducted a field test,” Mr Tomsheck said.

Welcome to life on the southern US boarder... the standards for folks hired to patrol the boarder with Mexico arent exactly that high.
 
Boy drugs mule, 16, dies after drinking liquid meth in 'attempt to prove it was apple juice'

A teen drug mule died after drinking liquid meth in front of smiling border patrol officers 'to convince them it was apple juice’.

Schoolboy Cruz Velazquez, from Mexico, was filmed sipping the highly-toxic drug after being stopped at US customs.

It only took a few small mouthfuls of the deadly drink before the 16-year-old began screaming in pain.

In a matter of minutes his muscles began to violently contract and he collapsed on the floor.

The young man shrieked “my heart”, “my sister”, and “my cousin” all in Spanish.

Cruz was first taken into custody but was later taken to hospital, handcuffed to a trolley, and he died within two hours of the “massive overdose”.

Neither of the officers who were involved in the horrifying incident, Adrian Parellon and Valerie Baird, have been reprimanded or prosecuted.

CCTV footage shows the officers appear to be unfazed by the incident, which happened three years ago.

Liquid methamphetamine is a drug which is dissolved into an amber liquid for transportation, and is known to be very dangerous as well has highly addictive.

It is thought one of Mexico’s well-known drug cartels provided the youngster with two bottles, having threatened to kill his sister if he did not cross the border.

The US Customs and Border Protection said that following a review “no further action was warranted and the officers involved were not disciplined.”

The San Diego County’s Medical Examiner’s Office ruled that the death was accidental.

Cruz’s family filed a private lawsuit in a Californian court and settled for $1m in March.

Dangerous as meth and about as addictive.
 
I wonder how much meth he consumed with all those swigs. Pretty sad and disgusting how they asked him to drink it. They should have been charged. And he should of told them to get fucked and drink it themselves.

Saturated methamphetamine hydrochloride in water is about 1 g / 3 mL. So, a small sip of about 15 mL would correspond to 5 g of meth.
 
God...5 gs...his tox must have been off the chart. You could prob hot plate dudes blood and get a scrape of crystal. Totally fucked...they obv knew it wasn't fucking juice but let him take sips??? Fire their asses for negligence.

Or press involuntary manslaughter charges.
Very reckless on b.p. end knowing full well the suspect (teenage boy) could die from the situation they created.
