The novel and the film and pretty different, but I'm talking about the film here. The scene where his attorney locks himself in the bathroom to ride out a bad trip and he vaporizes something from a lightbulb, what drug is that supposed to be?

Adrenochrome. :) No, I thought it was heroin. Then I thought speed. Those two were crazy so I am not ashamed that I have to try and guess what drug it was.

My bet would be on hash oil or opium hash.. matches the color (then again a lot of things eventually go black) but also especially the effects depicted.

This is a TV & film question (or drug culture) since it's mostly about the movie and not actually about the drugs themselves per se.

PD > F&T

Opium is my vote (lack of smoke).

They talk of smoking opium so opium would be the drug. It's a confusing film full of confusing drugs.

never let the truth get in the way of a good story

it's a plot device
