I specifically told my psychiatrist I react horribly to Atypical antipsychotic class drugs, and she still threw me on Abilify against my will. I insisted Remron would be a better option considering my addiction specialist is making me get off benzos. She is making me see a psychiatrist in order to keep getting my suboxone.

I reacted horribly to 2mg ability daily ( I know low dose ) and on top of that the psychiatrist only spent 3 minutes with me. I am in the USA, she barely spent enough time with me to learn my name. I have had severe depression for 10 years and am a drug addict.

I am wondering what peoples opinions are on Remron especially when I have to taper off 4mg xanax a day ( 4 years ).

My side effects to ability have been severe paranoia, sweating, anger, snapping, edgy and have slept 5 hours in 3 days.

I need some info, I am furious and want to confront this team who put me on ability I was just fine before it.

Have you started the xannie taper yet or are all those side effects definitely from the Abilify?

I started taper 30 days ago, I went from 4mg to 3mg now on 2mg for the month. I was completely stable on my 2mg xanax, 4mg suboxone and 30mg bus par. When Abilify was thrown in the mix things got worse. Cannot call my sub doc until tomorrow, I'm pretty miserable atm, I cannot sleep and am having pretty wicked psychotic thoughts and OEV's I have obviously quit with the abilify

I've known two people who were prescribed mirtazapine (Remeron). It worked well for them (depression). My flatmate said it helped him sleep much more easily the first two weeks on 15mg, after that the sleepy effects sort of faded. There was also notable increase in appetite. He frequently devoured two pizzas at night for dinner x). Tends to work well as an anxiolytic as well so I'm guessing it'll help with the benzo taper.

Well I am hoping my doctor will listen to me tomorrow, the abilify is finally out of my system, from what I notice at least... I was just fine on Buspar, xanax and subs throwing the abilify in the mix just ruined my weekend, I have never felt so angry and manic. The worst part is I told the psychiatrist atyp, antipyscotics make me very manic and she still put me on them, I just don't get it.

Called psychiatrist office at 9am today, they notified my psychiatrist at 9:57 that I was reacting to abilify, I called back at 4pm and they told me she left for the day...b****

Ur Dr is a piece of shit. First and foremost. Secondly mirtazapine is the answer to your ? all day long....yes it helps sleep and increases appetite...hardly bad side effects you just need to watch what you eat but thats a concern with most drugs like it including abilify

Remeron is not your best bet for those side effects...

Honestly an antipsychotic is the best option for that list but Abilify is one of the worst.

Have you ever tried a typical antipsychotic? They get a bad rap because they can cause nasty side effects but if administered properly, there's nothing better.

Phenelzine is actually really helpful with benzo withdrawal but because of it being an irreversible MAOI, it obviously has a lot of risks with people who have a history of drug abuse or have the inability to follow an MAOI diet.

Remeron is great if you need sleep. Its great if you need a strong appetite. Its great if you have depression that doesn't respond to other medications. But it is not a substitute for a situation that would call for an antipsychotic. Paranoia and "snapping" are going to require stronger guns.
