I had a fantabulous weekend, which im sure would have been much more enjoyable if i didnt have to deal with door security!
I know there have been other threads about seven door security, but i want to have a grumble about the security at Room and Sunny.
I rocked up to room with 4 guys, we were on the guestlist and security refused to let us in, giving us no real reason at all, but later finding out it was because of the girl/guy ratio. 1 girl with 4 guys apparently isnt right.
So deciding to head into Sunny instead, again having trouble, i managed to get in with one friend, but the other 4 who came with us were refused again, and told, again, there were too many guys in the place.
thanx to the efforts of some dear people, managed to get one of them in, but the others proceeded to go elsewhere.
So, whats the deal with a girl/guy ratio? i think it kinda sux!
and with security being soooooo rude - you are soooo not that good so get over yourselves!
sorry - im in grumbling mood....

SMILE :) - it's the second best thing you can do with your lips ;)

poor nezo almost didn't get into sunny when i was down there in melbourne because of the same reason...... luckily funky and her sis rocked up and managed to get him in with them (after even more hassles)...... NOT happy jan!
just be grateful you people don't have some of the brissy security guys down your way.....

.... what time is love?? 8:45 ....

RR - it sux even more when you're a guy
yeah!!! I was very surprised about that sunny drama - didn't expect it all ...
Brings back memories of Twister @ the Palace all those years ago.
I suspect the "too many guys" policy is just another bullshit excuse they give to punters to refuse entry - the same as "it's members nite only tonight". IMHO, it's the first sign of a club going downhill....

Shut up. If I wanted to listen to an arsehole, I would have farted.

I htink the stupid guy/girl ratio comes from drinking establishments where guys would drink too much to try to outdo each other/fight over the (lack of) girls. Ordinary society doesnt realise ravers/pill heads/what have you dont need to try to pick up to have fun. Thanks to the (majority) of brainless idiots who drink way too much and misbehave towards others. Im not paying out on alcohol, I drink every now and then (no where like I used to once I 'found' pills), but none the less, no matter how drunk/spastik I get, I still know how to behave towards other people..
just my 2cents to the guy/girl ratio

i think those kind of door policies are a fucking disgrace, not to mention the clubs that embrace them.

just a quickie to point out that the dudes on the door a sunny had a lot more to do with rosati's than sunny...in the case of focus i think the bouncer was put back in his place in the end...
its still not an excuse, organising a good party also includes security that knows what the party is about, but rosati's can be wankers at (most of the) times...

Too many guys out pfffttt!!!!~! For fuck sakes what has happened to Sunny to make them start doing that??? I'd sorta expect Room to do that but Sunny????
Next thing I'll hear is that it's happening at Teriyaki!!!

I can believe it... security at some places need to get over themselves. I guess it's got something to do with hating being at work while everyone else is out having fun. They seem to feel the need to exert their limited authority over people who are having a good time, in order to make themselves feel a sense of accomplisment.
I've worked on the door of a *good* intelligent techno club with the freedom to "keep the drunken dickheads out, and make sure 'our' kind of people get in". That's more like the attitude I'm interested in when I go out.
Fair enough, if the club has reached maximum capacity then they have to restrict entry, but I firmly believe that in these (few) cases there should be a strict 'first-come, first-served' policy where the people in the front of the line get in first rather than those wearing vacuous stares, push-up bras and peroxide. I would say "no offense" but if you've ever been picked out of a line to go in front of others who've been waiting longer than you have, then you deserve it, so suck it down.

I know of people who've lined up at 8.30pm to get into see big DJs at a certain nightclub (advised by fliers plastered all over the city to 'get there early to avoid disappointment'), and been knocked back at that time of the night, probably 6 hours prior to the DJ entering the club(!). How much earlier do they want people to turn up? I think that if the event organisers are going to allow promoters to put over 400 people on the guest list, in a club with a capacity of maybe 700, then they shouldn't bother advertising the gig at all.

I got to Sunny at 12:30 -1am and it was pretty empty - certainly not packed to the rafters with people, least of all 'guys'.
I was hoping that the incident for a once off for just one night but it sounds like it happened again last Saturday.
If a patron is there to enjoy the nite then they should be allowed entry, regardless of gender - the only reason why a nite would even want an improved girl/guy ratio is for image and when that happens, the pretentiousness factor goes through the roof and the number of genuine punters goes through the floor - hope the bouncers at Sunny pull their heads in.

Don't you guys split up into groups if there's a lot of blokes? We started doing that after the same thing happened to us a few years back. Hasn't happened since.

Dig and be dug in return.

this seem to sound abit like SALT niteclub or some asian parties. If there are much more guys than girls than, you can't get in as well.
The management seem to think that if a place has plenty of girls, it will then attract girls. The honey and the bee story.
Stupid but very very true.

im pretty disgusted to hear that Sunny has this kind of policy as well. Becoming more and more commercial i guess and i really think it SUCKZ!

The first Sunny I ever went to was the last one held at the Palladin. Now, that wasn't that long ago but I can still tell you that its changed a hell of a lot in those few months.
I am of the opinion that Rosattis is a generally crap venue and it seems to be attracting much more of a 'coke head' crowd. So much so that next time, we'll probably see Gemma from big brother there.

Well Bossdog funny you mention that because you know who Gemma's boyfriend is right???
Yep that's right the one and only DJ Grant Smile. He played at Tatou down in Melb quite awhile ago and Funky talked to him when she saw him there.
So there you go.

the irony of it all is that the first ssu at rosati's was the xmas partee, held downstairs, where the cloakroom now is. 6 months does a lot.
i seriously can't see rosati's lasting that much longer tho. organisers in general are getting preedy shitty about the frenchfuckercokehead that runs the place, and it'll be interesting to see how sleiker saturdays go there. i think the sooner sunny gets to a new venue NOT near honkytonks, ikon, velvet, ivy etc. the fuckin better. granted, sunny still rocks, and granted rosatis is a cool venue (cumon people, its a fuckin restaurant!!) but the two are starting to fuck up.
and don't forget kiddies, vote SUNNY!

i've soooo gotta invest in a pair of breasts!
not only would they be fun to play with
wink.gif
, i would be able to get priority entry into clubs!
we even notice it up here in canberra, not so much not letting guys in at all, but girls can generally walk straight up the front of the line and go straight in...
mental note - take hormone pills as well on sat nites...

although my SSU count is low on the attendance scale I can well say that this practise is ludcirous to say the least. I remember lining up at Rosatis one week and seeing countless people get knocked back @ the door because the size of the cup they were holding was bigger than the cup's coming out of their chest.
I guess you've gotta expect that tho..I think the smell of the clubs around Rosati's must waft over and turn the bouncers into raver hating bastards

Such a common story about the night being good but the venue staff dragging the reputation down by the people they refuse entry to (ravers), and the people they attract (cokeheads). Sunny seems to have fallen victim to the same problem hard kandy's had for over a year now. What other venues are there in melb that haven't got this prob??? Cage seems a bit crap at the moment, capsule definitely has a problem with arrogant security staff.. what about CBD (where bass station & the former subculture used to be)???
Are there any function-type rooms/complexes for one-off hire that nobody's really thought of using yet??? What about rooms at the new exhibition centre, or space vacated at the old casino (world trade centre)?? Remember, to hold a night there you don't necessarily *need* a liquor license for the event to be a success.. the requirements are a bit different to a traditional "nightclub" event - chill out zones, room for dancing, place for DJ & sound equipment and maybe VIP/restricted area.. and toilets close by
