The-Hobbit-Desolation-of-Smaug-Poster.jpg

middle trilogy films tend to be the jan brady of the bunch. the freckled ginger looks a bit out of place because it starts in the middle of something and ends in the middle of something. this doesn't mean it is of lesser quality, many middle films are quite great, it just means it feels a bit awkward. this is most apparent in the jackson epics, just due to their sheer lengths.

this is a long one, and the ending is less than satisfying, but that's just due to how they chose to structure these last two pics. i would have preferred a full resolution to one element saving the other for the third film, but what we have is like the second and third films as one piece cut in half. i think the lotr trilogy had a better structure, but can't say for sure for another ... *sigh* 12 months.

however i enjoyed it throughout, there are some very spectacular set pieces which had the audience gasping and audibly reacting. also the thing i looked forward to most was completely satisfying, and i only wished i could experience if far more often: the hfr3d.

i love 48fps.

i love love love 48fps.

it's is just so clear and so smooth..... *drools*.... everything else is really shit in comparison. i would seriously go to the cinema three to four times more than i do if there was more 48fps films being made. the high hertz count on my tv can mimic it some, but it is not in the same league yet.

I hope this one isn't as silly as the first one, with the talking trolls and Disneyed goblins. I could've also done without the thirty minute dinner scene.

I don't know why I'm responding since I have no plans of watching this.

Also: why didn't they just ride eagles from the shire to the dragon's mountain?

Every time galdalf asks a favour of the eagles, he later has to perform unimaginable acts of sexual depravity. That's why he has to go through the pimp moth every time.

I loved the barrel scene from the time Bilbo suggested the dwarves get in them right up until they got on the ferry. Got some good laughs.

Yeh the ending was frustrating but to be expected.

As an aside, I was impressed with Evangeline Lilly in her role.

Its pretty much entertaining Christmas fun. I saw it in 3D and wished I saw it without it. I'll probably watch it again when it comes out on Blu-ray/On Demand. I didn't find it long in anyway and it was pretty action packed. Previews were long.

It's not bad or anything but I always find it funny how LOTR is 3 thick books and the Hobbit is one thin book and both end up being 3 movies long.

Hope they do some Silmarillion stories too.

I've been trying to motivate myself to go see this. 3 hours in a theater just seems so long. May go see it a in a few.

A major improvement over the previous film. This *is* the Hobbit film I am looking for.

I enjoyed this far more then the first, but it's just entertainment for me.. where as LOTR was an epic experience.

That scene with Souron gave me chills; very cool indeed.
