im new to blue light and im just looking for some answers. SWIM has had aortic stenosis since birth (18 years) and up until last week, he never had to take any type of medication or even worry about the condition. A doctor recently prescribed SWIM Vasotec (Enalapril) in 5 mg tablets to lower an already low blood pressure, to decrease the strain on the stenosed aortic valve. Swim is in shape and athletic, but was recently ordered by the doctor to stop lifting weights and to take blood pressure medicine. SWIM is wondering a) what (if any) are the major side effects of this medicine and b) what are the dangers of using the substances weed, MDMA, and coke while on Enalapril. Swim is moderately experienced with all the aforementioned drugs and has not experienced any heart related issues while intoxicated or sober.

The only drugs you need to really worry about with your condition are those that are taxing on the heart, so this would include pretty much all stimulants, including MDMA and cocaine. The only drugs you are left with that you can use safely are depressants, some psychedelics, cannabis, and maybe caffeine. IF you take stimulants it doesn't mean that you will keel over and die right at that instant, it's just that they may aggravate your condition and force to have to have your aortic valve replaced much earlier than if you had abstained.

thanks for the info, but do you know what would happen if i used any of these drugs while regularly taking the prescribed Enalapril? especially MDMA?

You should not be using stimulants if you have cardiac problems, or using heart medication. Period.
