Opioids Why spend on bupe or meth for wd when you can use Loperamide?

Sure it won't get you high or anything but it certainly works to drastically reduce all wd symptoms if you take enough, including sweating yawning and sneezing. It just seems much more economical. I'm not talking about chemical experiments like CYP inhibitors, just simply swallowing enough generic tabs will do.

You shouldn't have to worry about constipation if you find the right dose since wd will tend toward severe diarrhea anyway so this will balance it.

Some people don't want to spend lots of $ on multiple boxes of anti-diarreah medications (the typical dose of loperamide for gas/nausea is much less than the dose needed for opioid pacification), and it doesn't substitute quite as well as buprenorphine/methadone because it penetrates the brain only poorly.

If you can source a large amount of Immodium though, you're right - it works pretty good at keeping the physical side effects down. This topic has been discussed before quite a bit on this forum.

Why people do it is really up to them...

It doesn't work as well for some people, some just don't like the idea of swallowing a handful of immodium all the time, others are already having good experiences with bupe/methadone, etc.

Nothing is universally "better" or "worse". What works well for some may not for others..
