example: A cop checked for narcotic residue on a desk with a methamphetamine test

Narcotic REALLY means a drug that can induce deep sleep
OR, in legal terms it is a bit stretched... coke = narcotic... BUT meth isnt classified as a narcotic

soooo, both definitions make the cop an idiot
 
Sorry mate, I fail to see how this warrants a thread here. Maybe in the social thread or in your regional board but it doesn't fit in BDD, may be worth moving it before a Mod does. :)
 
I dunno. I often use the word 'narcotic' as a general term for drugs. I'm sure if I was writing a scientific paper or something i'd pay more attention to the semantics.. but otherwise, doesn't really make much difference.
