Chanel 7's Today Tonight just aired an 'expose'
on supposed drug dealing bar staff. It was showed hidden camera footage of staff being asked if they knew where "something a bit harder than alcohol" could be obtained. Now ok, they probebly should'ent have been selling/conecting a work but
that's not my point whats was annoying was the misrepresentation of senario the advertisement blurted bullshit like;
"barstaff pushing dangerous drugs on our kids"
they even had the mother of a girl who had died from an ecstacy related death saying "they deserve capital punishment" obviously they were all fired and face criminal charges now. I found the whole thing apalling not to mention a tacky piece of journalism if you want to call it that.

1. why did they say 'kids'. kids arnt allowed in bars.
2. if someone asked me for an 'E', id laugh and walk away. i havnt heard anyone call a pill an 'E' in a long time, it just sounds too suss.
3. do they know how that ladies daughter died. was it from a bad reaction to mdma or was it coz she ate some ratsack.
trust today tonight to do some shitty news piece like this. such their style
last thing, does anyone konw where they were cruzing round, coz one dude told em to say they were friend from Sydney while another said friend from Melbourne.

Dammit i missed this but heard about it. I could have used with a good laugh.

yeah first i pissed myself and then i got kinda angry. the funniest part was when the tt chick goes "are they speed based pills?" and the barmaid goes "nah their coke based" i laughed my arse off.
BTW i actually have been asked before(at a club) if I knew where to get some 'ecky tablets' by this 35yo bitch who was with this guy in a Hawian
shirt and Colorado boots she had just seen me(blatantly)drop a pill on the dancefloor i promtley replied "yeah! check the toilets"

Chanel 7 make their money from advertising.
Make some silly extrapolations including how terrible drugs are, the fact they're available over the counter to your kids, then throw in some more hocus pocus bullshit and you have plenty of viewers.
Whinge, cry, bitch, complain, it ain't gonna stop. I recommend switching your TV to the ABC.
:)

Fucking arseholes, I saw a replay of it on sky news.
Made me sick, TT aren't supposed to be disgusting nosey PIGS, they should have blurred the faces at the very least. I hope they get sued.

Yeah I watched it too... if they'd been clever, they could have written the question "Can I get something a bit stronger than BEER" which would almost have been an innocent question. As it stands, they've solicited, so they can't say these people are pushing anything on anyone, since they asked for it.
However, they don't say exactly HOW MANY places they had to visit until they found the 4 or 5 bartenders who would sell them gear... Wonder how many bartenders were standing there watch them walk out the door with a wierd look going "not a fucking chance on Earth, **** ...".
Either way - a good story contains elements of truth, and we all know that this rings very true in the clubs and pubs of Australia. If you've never bought drugs in a club good for you! That's definitely a more sensible option, to arrange to buy drugs in a comfortable location from people you know and where you can test them prior to purchase. However, some people do not have the luxury/pitfall(?) of being in close contact with drug dealers, and must resort to scoring their gear on site on the night. Buying in a club carries a higher risk of getting ripped off, but buying from a random dealer perhaps makes you feel somewhat less 'hands-on' in terms of being 'involved' in the drugs scene.
If the cameras REALLY wanted to illustrate how easy it was to get drugs, there are far FAR worse ways this could be portrayed to an unsuspecting public, and I know you all know what I mean.

Hell in the clubs I generally frequent the barperson can hardly hear me yell for a drink let alone understand a lengthy question about hooking up, where were these people trying to get pills, the local shooters bar???
This article as most others on TT and ACA are simply recycled garbage from previous years. Here are another few that do the rounds on quiet weeks.
-White ant treatment nightmare
-Furniture retailer goes bust again and never delivers
-White goods tradesman con job
-Neighbor from hell
-Right-off sold as near new car
-Bankrupt builders half finished homes
-Worlds worst tenants
And the clincher
-The drugs killing our kids
Surely the average punter can see though these poorly researched, ill informed attempts at journalism. But I guess not, the ratings prove otherwise. Bring on the intellectual revolution, down with the liberal conservative Christian minority that rules the western world.

^ LOL! So true, that list of 'current' affairs pieces is right on the money.
Don't forget the "Disgraced Sports Hero"...
BT

I'm just really surprised that they could show names and faces (but not all of them?) Did they give permission? Why the hell would you?

Yeh remeber that 'Ectasy Realated Deaths' is a catch phrase now, and already gets exploited.
Doesnt 'ecstasy related death' mean any death that occurs while listening to electronic music.
:(
Young adults are more at risk of the dangers of suicide than Overdosing on MDMA, hell even PMA, ketamine, and meth combined would account for less deths per year. Never seen an ACA or TT expose on teenage suicide lately, guess its not news worthy enough to save our children from themselves, its the evil drug dealers that are the problem.
And yes I will eventually get off my soap box.
Cheers

Some reliable sources have informed me that the TT reporters had been asked to leave a number of Brisbane venues over the last several weeks, after attempting to solicit drugs from bar staff.
I've heard that this report actually took two months to make (meaing lots of attempts to score), before a story could be hobbled together.
The organisation I work for was contacted by TT who were trying to find an "e" user who scored from random venue staff to speak with them. Yeah right :)

You forgot the miracle diet pill, and it's sister story two weeks later - the miracle diet pill scam.

Kerry from RaveSafe Q was interviewed by the ABC this morning regarding this issue.

You have all missed out on the ACA gold storys.
-Uncontrollable Kid with ADD
-Landlord from Hell
-Tennets from Hell
-Ray Martin at a Gay bar..........

How is it that every person on this site can see through the garbage that our televisions pump out and the ratings suggest otherwise? I consider myself no more intelligent than the next person, why is it then that ACA and TT are still in prime time and hard core porn is still not free to air :) :) :) :) :) ?????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????? :) :) :) :) :)
Cheers
