Yo' momma's so fat... no, hang on a sec.. that's my momma. Her doctor just recommended "Reductil" and I looked it up for her ( http://goodmedicine.dietclub.com.au/library/article.php?path=13&art_id=148 ) and saw some interesting things about it...
Reductil is an appetite suppressant. The main ingredient of Reductil is called sibutramine hydrochloride, a substance that inhibits the reabsorption of the neurotransmitters noradrenaline, serotonin and dopamine in the brain.
Sounds Funky :D They've tried speed diet-pills, now they're trying anti-depressants!
How do you think this would affect a roll? I haven't searched beyond the abovementioned site, but It sounds like a SSRI (except not selective ;) ).

Sibutramine HCl is also known as Meridia.
CLINICAL PHARMACOLOGY
Mode of Action
Sibutramine produces its therapeutic effects by norepinephrine serotonin and dopamine reuptake inhibition. Sibutramine and its major pharmacologically active metabolites (M1 and M 2) do not act via release of monoamines
Pharmacodynamics
Sibutramine exerts its pharmacological actions predominantly via its secondary (M1) and primary (M2) amine metabolites. The parent compound sibutramine is a potent inhibitor of serotonin (5- hydroxytryptamine, 5-HT) and norepinephrine reuptake in vivo but not in vitro. However, metabolites M1 and M2 inhibit the reuptake of these neurotransmitters both in vitro and in vivo. In human brain tissue M1 and M2 also inhibit dopamine reuptake in vitro but with the reuptake inhibition of serotonin or norepinephrine.

CONTRAINDICATIONS
MERIDIA is contraindicated in patients receiving monoamine oxidase inhibitors MAOIs (see WARNINGS )
MERIDIA is contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to sibutramine or any of the inactive ingredients of MERIDIA.
MERIDIA is contraindicated in patients who have anorexia nervosa. MERIDIA is contraindicated in patients taking other centrally acting appetite suppressant drugs.

Reductil is a Seretonin and Noradrenalin reuptake inhibitor. Yes it is an SRI. No it is not as selective as SSRIs like Prozac, Cipramil etc.
Effexor is very similar in action to Reductil, both being SNRIs, although Reductil appears to be more effective at suppressing appetite (at least emotional appetite). Due to it's seretonin reuptake inhibition, it is not advisable to take md** while undergoing treatment with Reductil.
There's stacks of info on Effexor and drugs in the Health Q&A forum. A lot of it will apply to Reductil because they are in the same class of drugs.

Interesting that Duromine is alpha-methyl amphetamine!!! Hmmmm. Wonder what the subjective effects are. :)

Mum is on reductil... basically she has spent alot of money on it and it hasnt really gotten that great results... I think it is good if your diet includes KFC etc but she eats a balanced diet ... her problem is she doesnt exercise and is looking for a quick fix.

Reductil is really only indicated for people (mainly women) who overeat due to emotion. For example, when they're a bit blue, they eat, when they're happy, they celebrate with a big meal etc.. if a person eats well, reductil will not work. And it is very expensive cos it's not listed on the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme...

wow, who would've thought that a diet drug would contraindicate with an anorexic!!
