Firstly, a huge thank you to all bluelighters who responded to my letting you know about Users' News search for first-person stories about psychostimulant experiences.
Anyone who submitted material will receive a letter from our editor thanking you, and explaining the current situation.
For those who didn't follow the dying days of the previous thread on Users' News, which is a magazine produced by and for illicit drug users, and has a distribution of about 17000 editions in NSW, four times a year.
the morning announcer at 2GBlahblah received a complaint from a cop to his show about our current edition of the magazine. given that NSW is in a state election lead-up, and given that a campaign by the radio station pretty much single-handedly achieved the dismissal of former Police Commissioner Peter Ryan, the Health Dept, which funds the magazine, were a bit(sic) freaked out and issued a circular to all NSPs and public methadone clinics withdrawing the current edition from circulation through their outlets.
A review will be undertaken of the magazine by the Dept, and at the same time we will be contracting an independent evaluator to evaluate the impact of the magazine.
It is likely that the review will be released in April, and we will have the mag ready to go to press once that comes out.
at this stage it seems unlikely that they will need to censor future editions.
so, hopefully some bl-ers will see their names (or pseudonyms) in print b4 too long. we had hoped to have it for the summer party season and Mardi Gras, but better late than never.
