Brands and presses, what's the story?

I read this in another post describing the press of a pill.
i was told it is called "forbidden fruit".
the snake is the serpent from the garden of eden in the bible ie. "devil". And the apple inside the snake is the fruit which adam is tempted to eat by the serpent.
It got me thinking about the different logos on pills and how/when it all originated. Anyone have any thoughts? Its great for the average user in terms of identification. But why would a manufacturer go to the trouble of emulating a brand logo? I can't say i've ever taken anything purely for the logo, "oh look its a versace, it must be good." And surely there would only be a hand full of fools out there that are actually sucked in by the gimmick of brands. There must be more to it than fashion.
How long until a manufacturer is going to be caught by authorities and further sued by a company for unlawful use of their logo?

You might not take brands at face value, cause you're a smart cookie. The problem is, a LOT of people do think just because of the press the pill is good.
Remember, for every intelligent user, there are about 10 dickheads who demand "chargey" pills cause they don't like pills with too much smack.

Funking ravers ;)

i dont think people recognise the quality of the pill by the logo or print but use the print as a nickname for a batch of pills.
cant speak for everyone tho

One story you may check out is the advent of the Mitsubishi logo. A great account of this amazing resurgence in MDMA availability was published in a mixmag around 1998
The front page of the mag featured a giant mitsi with the caption along the lines of:
Is this the pill that rescued clubland....?
This story shows how the value of copy stamps rapidly spread throughout europe. Copies sprang up everywhere, with some unscrupulous manufacturers sucking everything they could out of having "the" 3 diamond pressing rods. Often the amount of MDMA in these pills would start off being 120mg, but over successive batches would decrease until the final batch would have no MDMA in it. All sold on the reputation of a stamp.
I'm sure this happened prior to the mitsi era, but the benefits to be gained by such practices were definitely highlighted by profits made during this period.

im digging this memory up from the dark depths of my brain so bear with me. i believe ive read that early on in the late 80s/early 90s all pills were white and unstamped (no logo) and the first (or one of the first) was the dove stamp. this apparently was done obviously as a marketing gimmick but also to make the product stand out from the rest and be easily identifiable. maybe someone else remembers this too?

^^^ all this stuff is in the archives somewhere. i half-remmeber a story that aj told me about a pill manufacturer in NL who did get sued for unlawful use of a trademark.

cowboy mac, this is exactly as i remember it! The only difference between pills was the colour and even then it was only very subtle like the diff between light beige and white or the diffs between the colour and types of speckles. As i remember it(this was back round 1992) all the pills were the same press as well, the only variations came later with caps and then finally white doves that appeared aprox 1993.

The stamping of pills is actually an international police conspiracy, set-up by Interpol......it helps them track the world wide trade in fucking eckies....seriously. Name one other illicit substance that can be monitored as easily.
Anyway, merry Christmas people, and please don't take the above seriously. ;)
