i'm about to watch. i'll report back soon

I found it boring tbh and I don't know why. The tsunami scene was good. I had a bad rip and kept jumping ahead. Maybe I should give it another go.

Really didn't work for me. Specifically: the French scenes appeared to be imitating French cinema, which created too much of a contrast with the English-speaking scenes. It was like two different films cut together. It was especially apparent when the journalist character was in an English-speaking environment. Inexplicably, the tone surrounding her performance changed - because they obviously couldn't maintain both so they just reverted back to the US style. Also the French woman looked too much like Jane Fonda from the 80s and she was generally annoying. The single-mum-junky segments were a little too melodramatic for me and they served no purpose, aside from co-incidence, in the overall narrative. The Damon segments were the only ones that worked. The film should've revolved around his character far more than it did.
