Can anybody shed any light on the alleged death of a girl while out clubbing in Brisbane last weekend?
There were rumours circulating of a bad GHB/Ketamine combination.

i'm also interested in hearing more about this... i havent heard anything from anyone up here.

There are a few heresay reports round the traps, but no hard evidence...it's frustrating. if the reports are true, then our heart goes out to the family of the person... :(

Okay so on the weekend, was chatting to someone who claims that they were in the beat and the paramedics came in, he followed, they were lead to a prone cold girl. The paramedics checked vitals, shook their heads then went and got a stretcher.. people started to get moved out of the room.. then a line of cops started working their way through the room and out into the crowd of punters.. it was then that he left.
He claims he saw her lying there, and that she was dead, paramedics went straight to get stretcher and load her in a bag. Claims he heard it was GHB related - i suspect possibly drinking alcohol as well? But that's MY theory.
Sounded convincing enough, and this guy has no reason to bullshit me.

well, i saw an ambulance outside the beat the other weekend, so that was probally it.
interesting that the last two so-called ghb related deaths have been kept VERY quiet. usually they love running around screaming "Won't somebody think about the children!!!!" ;)
M

when did the other one occur maxi? Are you talking about the one last year?

I find it hard to believe that something like this wouldn't have hit the headlines around the country... especially if it was a ketamine/GHB combo. Nasty.

Well folks,
who among you really thinks that the ambo's would bag someone in the middle of a crowded club without wheeling them out into the meatwagon first?
Methinks this is spurious shite.
The many wonders of Chinese whispers hey?
If someone has any concrete hard evidence of this, bring it on...
and lets be realistic, those reporting on this little fiasco weren't exactly 'clear headed' when the saw this all going on now were they?

i was in the beat till close last weekend and saw nothing like that. the week before there was an ambo called and all i saw was a guy sitting out the front in a chair with a massive bandage around his head - i dont know how it happened but there was no girl in that state to be seen anywhere.

I'm going off second hand info here people I don't like rumour mongering...
That's what i heard from 2 separate sources, whether it's another case or cracked out raver whispers or there's some truth to it i don't know.
Wester - when exactly do they put a dead body in the bag? Unless they have to cart the dead body to the emergency dept to be called DOA, then bagging it there seems plausible.
As i've said i'm going off 2nd hand info, and what i was told. Perhaps someone could call the beat's PR dept? hehe.

I believe i'm actually the person that got all this talk started, so maybe i can help shed some light on the subject.
It was the weekend after the BDO on the GoldCoast.
On the sunday i went over to a friends place.
They had all been out the night before to the Beat and then to Glory. They said to me "a girl died at Glory" i was immediately sceptic and asked how they knew. One of the guys there (lets call him A, i dont want to use names) He said " because i saw her there, with blood coming out of places that it shouldn't be" i think he said nose etc. It was really dark blood 'A' said. I asked if he knew what she took and he said a Christmas tree and GBH. As far as i can gather, the christmas tree's are K pills.
'A' said that the girls boyf was there and thats how we know what she took. That is the info i have.

please dont call it GBH... it is GHB - gamma-hydroxybutyrate.

Hmmmm, this is weird, and sad if true I guess. If it's the Saturday I think it was, then I was also at the Beat til close and didn't see anything like that, but then again it may not have been when I think it was, which would explain why I didn't see anything like that. And then it may not have even been the right club. Still, strange that nothing was said in any of the media. I don't believe that I've helped at all here. Sorry.

Maxi...
i (and probably everyone else) know its actually GHB but GBH is simply a street name. Along with Grievous Bodily Harm, Fantasy, Fanta, Liquid, etc etc etc. Everyone on here uses street names. Posts would be alot longer if we all called drugs by there real names.. could you be bothered typing amphetemine or methamphetemine every time you wanted to say speed??

I didn't think ambos could declare someone legally dead/bag them up etc. To my knowledge the person has to be declared legally dead by a doctor or possibly police officer before they can be thrown in a body bag. Actually, i'm fairly sure some form of medical attention has to be sought. Jessica (the girl that died at the BDO in Syd last year) was plucked from the mosh showing no signs of life and even after failed attempts to revive her on the scene she was still rushed to hospital - not in a body bag.
I'm with Waster on this one. I think they would be a little more subtle than just wheeling a stretcher complete with body bag through a packed club. And surely there would have been at least some sort of media attention.
Where was she when they discovered her body. By the sounds of things it was as though she was lying limp on the dancefloor until paramedics arrived???

sorry glamour_glory... i didnt realise that it was sooo much more trouble to write GHB than GBH. i asked that you call it GHB, not gamma-blah-blah-blah....
yes i know it is a street name (tho i dont personally know anyone that uses that one) but it perpetuates the myth that it is harmful (Grevious Bodily Harm)... not to mention that it was made up by some uneducated fuck (probally the media) that couldn't even come up with an acronym that uses it initials in the correct order.
M'eh
/end rant
M

porn... from the sounds of it.. she was simultaneously lying on the floor of both the Beat and Morning Glory. ah gotta looove chinese whispers!! :)
M

The first time i ever heard of GHB (is that better Maxi?) it was called G, then GBH. I've mainly heard it called G, Fanta, Frankie.
Street names are come up with so people dont have to bother using the real terms. I repeatn my earlier argument : do you ask people to write pseudoephedrine or amphetimine when talking about speed! I dont think so.
Back to the topic, i have a vague feeling i started all this talk by posting in Brisbane pill check 24/1/02 about christmas trees. This is SUPPOSED to be a harm reduction site and i just thought to bring this combination to peoples attention with the information i had.
Didnt mean to start chinese whispers.

Glory_Glamour:
I think Maxi's point is that with certain drugs, it's better to use the real terms, so people don't get confused as to what exatly they are taking. ie, GHB and 14B are different substances with different dosages, but some people call them both G. That can be very dangerous. Personally we think that it is very important for people to use the correct term rather than street names...especially with the aforementioned drugs and things like amphetamine and methamphetamine, which also have diffent dosages. Some people may think it's being too anal, but it clears alot of confusion.
...and another way to look at it, drugs and drug taking are a science, and should be treated in that way. That includes finding as much out about the particular drugs as possible (including the correct name and using it).
...just our opinion, and shouldn't be taken as the gospel according to samadhi :)
...love your work Maximus :) :) :)
