Attention Bluelighters!

Hello fellow BL's.
I'm writing this post after a harrowing experience, similar to a recent post that I observed on here.
This morning I was sitting at home watching the footy when who should arrive at the front door but the local police. Well I'm fucked says me.
"We've got a warrant to search the premises for suspected drugs, can you please take us to your room" Fuck, fuck, fuck. "Is there anything that you want to declare before we search your room?" FUCK, FUCK, FUCK.
"Yes, I've got these pills here" FUCK.
That was my stash for the rest of this year, over $500 worth. I'm now facing charges that may give me a criminal record, and that's not a very good situation for someone like me about to finish their uni degree.
I don't know how they got my details, there were three cops with a video camera and a warrant to search the house. I cooperated completely with them, which may have been why they didn't charge me with intent to sell or supply, since I did have well over the required amount.
My point to this story is that I don't know where they got my name, as I'm sure I don't have any enemies, and I don't know any dealers directly. My only clue is that the officer said it was nobody I know, and it wasn't a person. Unfortunately, my e-mail address, which is stored in this site, has my proper name in it, and that they may be monitoring this site. So be very careful what you post, and what you include in your details.
Dammit, right before Digital too. Well bad luck, I'M STILL GOING, HAHA, even if I can't have as great a time as I was going to.

Dude, I do believe you might be right. But you should really watch what you post... here are a couple of potential problems:

well doesnt bother me because i only visit this site for helping spread information for the purposes of harm reduction.
the outcome u are looking for in the case is a spent conviction so that it doesnt interfere with your future career in the feild u are studying. i hope your getting yourself a lawer.

Pull your heads in people, dont talk about buying or selling. Remove email/ICQ from your profiles to be safe, or at least make sure they are untraceable (this includes details on your ICQ acct. No locations, names or any revealing stuff in your details). Personally, try to only circulate your ICQ No. amongst those you know, Its all too easy to see when you are online using it and grab your IP (even if you have it restricted).
The best option however, is to not give our law enforcement personell reason to come knocking on your door in the first place...

i'm with -Thoth, be carefull. a bit of paranoia never hurt no-one. and get a hotmail/webmail/yahoo/etc. account. put in bogus details. be safe. i can't believe the amount of people that put up their real e-mail address, or their student e-mail. what are you thinking? with the other e-mails, they can still trace you if they want to, but they really have to want to. and careful what you say. i'm guilty of spouting off in the past as well. this isn't a pissing contest, tell us what you've HAD, and what you've TESTED in the past. and be safe.

to the moderators, how long are messages archived here for? this is a good wake up call for everyone here and im sure ppl will be more careful in the future but what about previous posts that might be misinterpreted by the police as implying illegal activities?

Hi All, Just a thought. The more people say what event they are going to on the weekend & what pills they are gonna have must create more interest for the meni in blue to show up on the night. I heard that this happened to some extent at the Madhatters Ball and frineds from Sydney have said that cops with sniffer dogs walk up an down the queue to get in. We don't it to go this far so shouldn't we be more careful what information we put on this website ?

Just another thing to add to this. It seems teknoscape and the whole perth rave seen has had a bit of a burning in todays paper. Reading the article it seems Perth websites and clubs might be about to atract a huge amount of media and police attention.
The article has made some direct quote from things posted up on their site so it will probably pay to be very cautious and thoughtfull when you post something. Dont think in terms of what how the police might use the information but also how the media could quote you and make bluelight not look as harm minimalistic as it shoud.
You can never be too paranoid I suppose

This is a bit of a wake up call for everyone here I think. I was going to do this anyway, because of tools e-mailing me, ICQing me, (not anyone here) and generally harassing me, but I think it's time for me to remove some of my details off BL!!!

Grrr... this crap shits me intensely. For the sake a few drug busts, the authorities sneak around BL, track down suspects through this site and raid their premises. Now, for fuck sake, the majority of users i believe genuinely use this site for harm reduction. Since there is no quality control over an illegal substance, sites like these are important in harm minimisation. Forget the bullshit, "e is illegal, ppl should not be doing it, these's resources are encouraging drug use" debate. The fact exists that no matter what the legal status of drugs are, people have and always will use them. Fuck the legality, ethically, everyone has the right to research about drugs they are considering taking and harm reduction stratagies.
So getting to my point, with assholes using such sneaky tactics, people will be discouraged from using BL for fear of getting authorities knocking at the door. A great harm minimisation resource will be shut off to those that are too scared to be pinged with drugs.
Congratulations to the authorities! You've bagged yourself another drug user and potentially killed off a few teenage experimenters because they were unaware about the lethal combination of PMA and MDMA and too scared to check out BL. Fuck... its a question of ethics. As far as i'm concerned thats not the way to go about nabbing drug users. Especially considering that there is no active drug dealing on this site. It just isolates drug users from more harm reduction resources. Christ, why don't they just start ringing up GP's and demand the details of any patient who has admitted to drug use? If privacy exists in the doctor's practice, then why doesn't it exist on this board?

my story is so similar to ricksta its scary.

They're not after those of us that have a pill now and then. We're causing little harm to the community and are so numerous that there's little point in devoting police resources to us.
People that sell drugs on the other hand, are worth devoting time to, because if you stop one person from selling, you are at least making it harder for between a few and a hundred people to buy drugs.
Yes from our point of view this is crappy and we're not causing any harm and we're just pacifist hippies. But in the bigger picture it's a big, global, and at times cut-throat and murder/rape/pillage worthy business. (How many of you went to the anti-globalisation demonstrations and felt guilty for buying pills?)
So from the point of view of authorities, it is a cause worth fighting for, not to the level of crashing an airliner into bluelight's server, but somewhere in between.
I think I'd said so before... but if you have or are on your way to getting qualifications and aspirations for a fantastic career in something that you can't be employed in if you have a criminal record... or if you want to travel to one of the many countries that won't let you in if you have a record... or if you want citizenship in another country... it's really not worth selling drugs. Pay a bit extra buying singles or only enough for yourself, cos it's worth the few dollars more you're paying.
Side note: if you're picking up for friends, that's possession with intent to sell/supply.

If that was how they got your name (eg. email addy) it would be easy to make the practice extremely inefficient by creating a few usernames with emails which include the names of randomly selected people from the phonebook and posting a few "well be getting lots of these this weekend" posts...

Once this site has your IP address (which would be sent with every post I am guessing) they have got you by the balls. IP address will then lead the police stright to your ISP, which then they can give the police your address, phone number, anything. There is no escaping, we're all doomed!!!!!!!!
The only way they could really get you is if Bluelight was helping them? Think about it, the word *BLUELIGHT*, sounds a bit suss hey...haha. I am just joking, but hey, you never know! Be careful what you say Harm minimization remember, that's all this is here for.

If you get lots of pills, you're a fool if you post anything (about anything!) on bluelight. You're asking them to come knock on your door...
