PILL WARNING!!! [ JUNE 2001 ]

In the last ChEck iT!, on 2 June (Biosphere) the chemist team analyzed another 1 PMA/PMMA tablet as well as 6 similar tablets containing only Methamphetamine, all sold as Ecstacy. Due to the complexity of the analysis we can only now warn of these tablets. The analyzed PMA/PMMA sample is a very high dose, beige Mitsubishi tablet.
The pill can be described as follows:

Thickness: 5.9mm
Active contents: 97(!)mg PMMA & 4mg PMA
Small doses of PMA/PMMA can lead to an abrupt rise in blood pressure and core temperature. Extreme rises in temperature - as can be occur with PMA/PMMA - have in several cases led to overheating, organ failure and finally to death. Due to these current analyses it must be assumed that PMA or other particularly dangerous substances can also be found in tablets with other Logos and designations. In no case can the actual contents of a tablet be judged from the Logo or description.
For the first time several (altogether 6!) tablets containing methamphetamine were analysed:

Very high dose ecstacy tablets were found in the south-west of France, reported by the EDBB service.
The tablet is described as follows:

Active contents: 150mg MDEA + 9mg MDMA
150mg MDEA is a very large quantity! The probability for acute incidents rises strongly with doses of this magnitude. Likewise this might affect the seratonin system in the brain, leading to longer term possibilities of depressive illnesses and concentration disturbances.

Note: MDMA content in pills is increasing (source: DROBS Hanover) The average dose of MDMA per pill rose from around 40mg in August last year to about 90mg. Here are the exact details:
Week 32, 2000 (Start of Aug) - average = 51.7mg MDMA per pill
Week 39, 2000 (End of Sept) - average = 69.4mg MDMA per pill
Week 47, 2000 (End of Nov) - average = 91.4mg MDMA per pill
Week 1, 2001 (Start of Jan) - average = 90.9md MDMA per pill
Therefore this can lead to people more easily taking too high a dose, especially if they are used to small quantities and usually take multiple pills.
