The other day i went to the pain specialist that I have been seeing since March of this year. He gave me a prescription for 25mcg. and over the past 11 days I have been so tired, and have a real hard time concentrating on anything. This is a big problem because i inspect small ceramics with a magnifying glass for small errors. My wife is scared to let me drive because i have a hard time keeping my eyes open. The only problem is that the Fentanyl works great for the pain, with only break through pain at work that i dont take anything for. Does anyone know of anything that will help this well for the pain maybe something a little weaker so i dont get these side effects i kind of want an idea before i stop by to see him tomorrow. By the was my last med before the fentanyl was 5mg oxcodone 4 to 6 times a day it did not help with pain at all.

Ask for a higher dose of oxy. I cant speak for everyone but when i take oxy im pretty alert and ready to go whether its at work or school.

yeah when i took the oxycodone 5mg that even helped with the alertness. I'm just wonder why he didnt go with a higher does of that instead of taking the drastic jump to fentanyl

Well if i were you i would go back to the doc and tell him that fentanyl is making you too tired and that you feel a higher dose of oxy would work much better. I take it before work and i actually have more energy and work alot more productivly.

This is really between you and your doctor. Be honest and tell him that its too strong and that you need to try something else. Oxycodone is a good option because many find it less sedating that most opioids. Tramadal supplementation with other opioids may be beneficial as well. I think you're still probably a long way from needing amps or anything for opioid-induced sedation.

We often get threads that this and our policy is to close them because this is between you and your health care professionals. Feel free to PM me if you have any questions and take care!
