My friend recently brought this to my attention.



Apparently, it's gathered a cult following. Mainly because it's so bad, but I wanted to know if anyone else had seen it before I checked it out.

It looks hideous, but hilarious. What do you make of it?. :D

adult swim showed it on april fools day a couple years ago. i sat through about 45 minutes of it thinking it was a special episode of tim and erics awesome show great job. then i realized it was just some terrible movie and changed the channel.

Hilariously, the director is now claiming that it's a black comedy. (It's obviously meant to be a drama).

It really is hideous but hilarious, I was laughing uncontrollably a couple of times.

Watched The Room the other night. Highly recommended. A glorious mash of ill-conceived ideas, bad acting and bad dialogue. Like a 90 minute cry for help from a rich idiot (produced, wrote, directed and played the lead) - who is obviously trying to deal with his girlfriend leaving him [in real life I mean].

Check out 'the Flower Shop' and 'drug dealer' scenes on YouTube, and tell me this isn't genius.

The Wikipedia page is great too [it has spoilers, obviously]. It makes the film sound like a David Lynch movie or something - everything happening randomly and without meaning.

Feste: most people think it's just a really bad movie. After it was released and got bad reviews/audiences falling down laughing, the producer started re-marketing it as a black comedy - basically a meta-joke, like you say.

this movie was so terrible, the acting, the awkward sex scenes, tommy wiseau, everything about this film was bad. a few scenes were quite hilarious and the first half hour i laughed like crazy but the more i watched the sadder it all seemed (not in an emotional way mind you, just like, wow, someone actually made this film, thats sad). id say skip the film and watch the clips on youtube, they are the best parts. however i think it would be fun to see it with a huge group of people all making fun of it.

The fact that Wiseau is retroactively marketing it as a comedy is proof that he doesn't have another one of these in him. I haven't seen it yet (missed it when it came through STL), but from all accounts, not only is it as incompetent as Ed Wood, but it's also just as sincere. And that's the kind of bad movie that we hardly get at all anymore.

I really want to watch this movie and love it....so after the first two posts I stopped reading or else I'd be a victim of the "expect too much that it turned out to be the suck" variety

I know I'm several years too late for this thread, but this movie found the hard to find harmony of "SO bad, it's hilarious".
Like how nothing makes sense, and they're inexplicably playing catch throughout the whole movie.
Oh, and the drug dealer scene. The best acted scene of the whole movie (on the part of the dealer), and it happens out of nowhere.
Then they never speak of it again.
Awesome if you find humor in terrible shit.

Its like a long blue movie. Soap operas are vastly superior to this. The sex scenes are embarrassing. Pornography without the porn.

If you guys hate-loved The Room, you owe it to yourselves to see Birdemic: Shock and Terror.

You've got to see it before the 3D sequel comes out this summer, or how else will you be able to follow its highly cerebral plot?
