Contrary to popular belief, liberals do not have a monopoly on humor.
However, conservatives always fall flat when they try imitate left-wing style humor. Like when Fox News tried to make a conservative answer to the Daily Show... I forget the name of it but it was god-awful.
I'll probably see this but my expectations are pretty low.

Just saw it. I'm probably the only person who will have seen the movie non-ironically while stoned.

Well, An American Carol is not a great movie. Nor is it even a good one. However, it is a lot better than you probably think it is.

There are some good laughs but overall the humor is pretty hit and miss. When it misses, it can be pretty cringeworthy. The patriotic flag-waving parts were just nauseating and this is from someone who leans right.
My biggest criticism is Kevin Farley. He's just not funny. But then, I didn't think his brother Chris was funny either.
For as many well-known stars as they got for the movie, they went with this total unknown for the lead and in every scene Farley gets upstaged by the supporting cast.

This movie would probably be better if it weren't billed as "Hey! Look! It's a right-wing comedy!" They should just make a comedy that happens to have conservative principles. Propaganda is so much more effective when people don't know they're about to watch propaganda.

The conservative commentariati have a lot of hopes pinned on this movie. The theater I was in was about 2/3 full.

Though I know it will be full of cheap shots, I definitely plan to see it; far be it from me to disdain conservative humor, and I think it's pretty hard to screw up any "A Christmas Carol" take-off (e.g., Scrooged, which is an old favorite).

As an aside, let me second your comment on Chris Farley; though he is missed, and I love some of his movies, I never thought he was as hilarious as everyone else did.
