This looks pretty interesting. Don't know how it will hold up to other Frank Miller creations but it looks pretty promising. As always the visuals are stunning and fresh. Don't know if I'll like this more than Sin City but I am looking forward to viewing it this Christmas.

The Spirit website and trailer

Other thoughts?

I'm personally annoyed that Samuel L. Jackson is in this, to me that is just a blatant ploy to increase viewership and make more money. I do not need, nor do I want, Jackson in every new movie that comes out. :| Then again, he could be awesome in it, we'll see.

this is frank miller's directorial debut and the trailer has been panned as being far too much like sin city.

time will tell.

I wish it was Sin City 2 instead. It looks the same, why not just make a great sequel instead of a copycat movie?

they are working on a sequel.

the spirit is based off another of miller's graphic novels (like 300 was)

I think this looks pretty great, then again I'm all for beautiful badass women on the big screen. I really like the style from 300 and Sin City so I'm looking forward to this. :)

Anyone planning on seeing this? I've heard good and bad, but it definitely will not be on par with Sin City.

Trailer

Looks terrible. Your point that it looks like Sin city, is exactly the problem with it. 300, Sin City, and whatever else I'm missing, is just a cliche' and failed attempt to be creative. They're just trying to bring people to see this crap. It's complete style over substance.

I've seen the posters here and there, and was kinda drawn in by it. But that trailer looks positively boring. I didn't like Sin City very much either, so I'll probably give it a miss. :\

300 was ace... in a stupid, camp kinda way. Love it!

Sin City was good at the time, but looks more and more like Who Framed Roger Rabbit every time I see it.

what's wrong with roger rabbit?

this trailer is far more appealing than the teaser a few months back

Looks pretty cool, I think. I like frank miller films. I am waiting on him to get off his ass and get on with producing Sin City 2!

going to see it today at 4 with Swerz
will put my input later, i love frank miller so im hoping this is a good one

Christ on a bike this is bad. I'd like to hear from someone who has watched this all the way through. I gave up after 30 minutes because I knew I had other, more important things to do. Like fixing my gate at the side of the house & putting up long overdue washing lines. :)

I absolutely despise movies that have people running along telegraph lines & balancing on leaves (eg. crouching tiger et al). Superhero movies, yes. Over the top nonsense that tries far too hard to be cool, no, definitely no.

I think "atrocious" sums it up for me. Worst I've seen on a long time.

i was wrong. this aint a miller comic. it's an eisner one. but anyway.

lame.

it didn't seem to have direction for the most part. the contract paper cutout style randomly chopped in was just distracting and useless. it wasn't completely without merit, just mostly.

2/5

What the... how can you have a spirit movie with no ebony white?

It's hilariously racist!

Seriously though I knew this movie was going to suck balls when I heard Miller was directing it and saw the commercials. I enjoyed Sin City but that's mindless palp, this is a big boy comic. Eisner must be spinning in his grave.

Sin City was a failed attempt at being creative??

damn!
what movie did you find creative in the last 200 years?
