i've been catching this excellent series as much as i can, and i'd seriously consider buying the dvd. for a long time i've wished for a concise history overview of the development of language and i fluked upon the miniseries on channel sbs and was absolutely delighted with what i found. the wife and i were captivated as the presenter and author, melvin bragg, so eloquently described how the language evolved in different parts of the world and how it spread.

see this if you can find it

this show is on saturdays right? I think I've seen a couple of episodes and it provides a detailed look into the english language. It's really interesting.

since i've been unemplyed the last few weeks, i have no idea which day of the week it was on. but i can hardly imagine how you'd mistake this for anything else.
