Damn... this movie is sad.

I think it was a really, really accurate depiction of adolescence.

Every part - but especially Leslie - was very well cast.

I'll admit it. I cried.

I never read the book, but I'm glad they didn't change the ending. I'm surprised the studio didn't force them to change it.

They didn't delve the fantasy element very much, which I found disappointing. The director never really intended for it to be a fantasy film though. The marketing campaign for this film was very misleading.

It's a good movie. Not recommended for serious gang-bangers or junkies. Again, the portrayal of the adolescent existence is excellent. Man, it is sad.

i've only ever seen short adverts for this on tv but i switched off immediately as it looked like kids fare with not much adult interest. there are obviously a lot of movies aimed primarily at kids which adults would also enjoy but there are also movies which are, on the face of it, kids movies but play more like movies made by adults for adults which kids will also enjoy (e.g. toy story)

thanks for the capsule - i should check this out.

It's definitely kid fare; I suppose the amount of adult interest it has depends on the adult. I liked it, but then again, I'm one of those sad people who constantly mourns the loss of their childhood, which makes this film especially poignant . If nothing else, it reminded me of what it was like to fall in love when I was 12. And it made me cry. I hope lacey k doesn't read this. I'm actually very manly.
