I saw it on television about 15 years ago. It's about this really evil hearted legislative power broker in the House of Commons who intends to become Prime Minister....by any means necessary.

It was excellent. It was aired on the San Fran public TV channel.

Anyone ever see it?
 
Yeah, I remember this. I must've been quite young when it was on, but can recall watching it with my mum on a Sunday evening.

Ian Richardson as the most suavely acerbic statesman to ever grace British television screens. I loved his legendary looks to camera:

There was a sequel called To Play The King as I remember, which wasn't quite as good, but still had a scene where he threw his secretary from the roof of the Houses of Parliament. What a fucking bastard. I love him.
