The Triangle(2005)

Not to be confused with a 2001 film by the same name, starring Luke Perry.

Plot Outline: A group of people haunted by their experiences within the Bermuda Triangle band together to confront its truths.

Plot Synopsis: With his crews and cargo ships disappearing at an alarming rate around the Bermuda Triangle, a billionaire hires a crew full of specialists to understand why. Hand picked by the man himself, the crew consists of a skeptical journalist, an ocean engineer, a scientist, and a psychic. With an attractive financial offer made to each of them, the crew will investigate the legendary, and very mysterious Bermuda Triangle to find answers. But as their findings deepen, the crew finds themselves surrounded by bizarre occurrences that only become all the more nightmarish. The offers made to them may have seem ideal at the time, but now they may have gotten in over their heads against something they may not understand.

======================================

I watched this in one sitting. I wasn't planning to originally, but once I started, I had to finish it right there and then. Very easy watching, not too flashy and not corny.

Considering that this was a made for TV (SciFi Channel) feature, I was surprised. I was expecting some cheesy home made, barely suitable for television effects like those we'd witnessed in those tornado, hurricane, earthquake, volcano, plague "to be continued" movies that were brayed over the airwaves to be the next best thing to Armageddon. Only they weren't.

The Triangle, on the other hand, beat my expectations. While I was expecting all the cheese factor of all the other made for TV calamity movies, this one surprised me with its reasonable, well recognised cast, respectable special effects, steady pace and a closed ending. Make no mistake, it's still a made for TV film and one shouldn't expect to see a Big Hollywood mega million blockbuster masterpiece. Instead, sit down expecting a TV feature and you might walk away feeling like you've just watched something more. I did.

The best movie that SciFi has ever put on tv... and you can win every time with me using Catherine Bell.
