FILM: Angels In America

Did anybody see this movie?

Al Pacino, Meryl Streep, Emma Thompson

Definitely one of the weirdest movies i've ever seen...

I believe it was on HBO before being released on VHS/DVD

Thoughts?

I thought this was really well done. The performances are incredible. Al Pacino and the Mormons wife (I wish I could remember her name) especially. It was not the kind of thing you see too often. I thought the way it was done was very original, especially the Valium induced dream sequences in Antartica.

I loved this movie. I agree the performances were incredible and the message and storyline very powerful.

Def a movie you have to watch more than once to fully grasp everything presented. Two thumbs up

Mary Louise Parker I believe...

The performances were great all around with good direction and a few really excellent scene compositions. I thought Jeffrey Wright, who played Belize/Mr. Lies, delivered the best performance. He was also the only actor carried over from the original stage production.

The real strength of this film is the fantastic writing. Tony Kushner adapted his own play and kept it largely unchanged. The ideas, the characterization, the dialogue, the plot, the imagery, the use of a kind of distorted magical realism; it's really great writing. Check it out if you get a chance, it's worth seeing.
