Seeing as the pics thread is getting somewhat hijacked by talk of tattoos, I thought perhaps the issue at hand could have it's own thread.

So people: your thoughts on visible tattoos in the workplace.

I'll be back to post later (I'm really doing an essay for uni... really 8( )

I've split the posts from the pics thread off into this one.

And i would live my life conforming to societies rules and regulations wishing i had done this and wanting to do that, If i was a boring person that was content to consume and obey.

Strive to be different.

Addendum:
These days it is people like us, bluelighters in general, that have jobs and are in the position to hire and fire people. I would look on someone who has a tattoo of something interesting with respect, not assume they are a terrorist who is going to steal my washing and then blow up my house.

qotm, society has you whipped bad man.

^ i doubt i would keep my job if i had a tatt like that.
Sad, but true.

Thats an awesome tattoo Pl4yer0ne!! There's a guy who works at my local who has a tatt in that exact spot, hence the unexpected trips to the local that can just crop up... so yes as I was saying, totally hot!

And samadhi, you are such a beautiful woman, even prettier in real life! :D
(And your husband again looks like Aiden from Sex & the City)

Yes, bar work, that's an ideal job for people "expressing" themselves like that... See my good man, it's not about societies expectations but rather of moving on from the dark ages when such tattoes were common in blood thirsty nordic hordes...

You think you're being different, sorry dude, you're just being outdated...

God you are an idiot. How do you know the barman is just a barman? every guy I have worked with behind a bar was either a student or had a fulltime job as well. blah blah. And somepeople find body art, as oppossed to sappy bullshit poems a way for them to express themselves creatively and emotionally. You think your form is more valid ? How arrogent.

ps: your comments moe where just as stupid.

ps; oh yeah that tattoo is fucking hot. Maybe thats the problem ? Boys cant handle chicks getting completely hot over something they would never have the balls to do ?? A timely reminder of their incomplete masculinity ?

Haha, you actually take what I have to say seriously, I guess that's to be expected. Listen kid, I'm taking a patronizing tone because I feel it best suits the situation. Moe's comments were accurate, people with visible tattoes are less likely to gain PROFESSIONAL employment because of them...

I actually have some haha "body art" on my person. See I find the term body "art" offensive as it isn't your body that has produced the art, it's more of you being a convenient canvas for somebody elses art.

And to end things off, in this case, yes my form is more valid, as more people can associate with it. Please do humanity a favour and stab yourself.. in the name of "art" of course...

Ah yes. Because you're not a real man unless you feel the need to hold up a big sign to the world that says "I AM A BIG MANLY MAN" in inky red and green letters with fully sick gothic typefaces.

Which makes lesser men, those with no ink, feel bad and sad and need to snipe one-handedly from the protection of an anonymous internet forum while they watch porn in another window - in turn, because they're not hard enough to get a real woman.

I like tats, don't get me wrong, but you're a cock.

To BBG: You are a pompous idiot if you really believe that! Also re: Moes comments, he suggested that that person was less likely to get employed professionally because of that tattoo. UM BUT DONT GET ME WRONG, BUT I THOUGHT IN PROFESSIONAL WORK YOU HAD TO WEAR A FUCKING GHEYCUNT SHIRT !!! AND SUIT JACKET 99% OF THE THE TIME ! Which would consquently cover up that particular tattoo, on the forearm. I am also not going to retaliate to your stabbing myself comment, with something just as childish because ya know I like to hold up an image of dignity, ok ? ;)

And to JC: That was only a suggestion, I wasnt saying that if you have a tattoo that makes you more of a man. I was only trying to speculate why so many guys are attacking a cool tattoo.

My next tattoo will be on my forearm, mainly for the fact that it is taking a leap forward on the ruining my chances of successful employment scale.

I'm a glutton for punishment (what a stupid cliched saying - if only my brain were capable of more originality).

The tattoo is cool. Just the choice of placement is what we are attacking. And if you like it so much why don't you print off an image of it and sleep next to it at night, or better yet get it tattoed on your forehead and we'll see how many places will employ you afterwards....

Ink shows through light coloured shirts. There are also these things, oh what's the name of them... Oh that's right short sleeve shirts... Moe and I are just realistic. I mean it would be great if I was able to get ink wherever I wanted it, unfortunately I do plan on having a career later in life and such things would severly hinder my progress were they seen.

We don't make bull shit standards, we just point them out ;)

Look that tattoo will - like it or not - most probably affect future employment.

I am not saying it is right.
I am not saying it is fair.
I am agreeing that it should not play a part in employment.

But if you put two people with equal skills and qualifications in a job interview being conducted by a conservative middle-aged person...you do not have to be Nostradamus to figure out which of the two would have the employment advantage.

I personally think the tattoo looks fucking awesome.
