let me start by saying I've been waiting for this movie to come out ever since I heard Tim was doing another stop-motion feature film. I saw it this past weekend and was mesmerized the entire time. I love all types of animation, especially stop-motion. the attention to detail in this film is amazing, the facial expressions, the body language, everything moves so naturally. the lace veil flows elegantly, the hair whisps around in the wind, the breasts bounce! there were so many times I was thinking to myself 'how did they do that?' This film is just as funny as it is spooky. Tim Burton's dark twisted style and odd characters are timeless.
I give it 5 gold stars

we can't poll it isn't out yet!!

Or is it??!!

I am very excited to see this, big fan of NBC

DarthMom, it's been out for two weeks here.

I'll have to wait to see it on DVD. I couldn't sit through all that singing in a theatre. Never was a big fan of musicals.

^It wasn't really a musical. I was a bit skeptical about watching it but my friend dragged me along. I loved it and I thought the animation was amazing. I recommend this to anyone that liked "A Nightmare before Christmas"

From imdb:
This is the first feature to be made with commercial digital still photography cameras (31 Canon EOS-1D MARK 2 SLR cameras with Nikon Lenses) instead of film cameras.

i've only seen the trailor for it but it looks awesome. will definitely make an effort to check it out at some point.

I am so releived to hear good things about this film. I really love Tim Burton, by Big Fish was dissappointing, and I am too scared to see Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, after hearing it wasn't that great. Who does the voices? And what is it about? I've only seen the poster.

When the movie started I didn't think I would like it that much but as it went on I just loved it. I agree the way they put this movie together is amazing. Tim Burton's characters are full of life(well in spirit since most of them are dead lol) You can feel their emotions which I imagine is hard to do with this type of movie. I would definetly go and see it again and recommend it to everyone.

Okkkay, apparently I am the only person who found this film incredibly and overwhelmingly disappointing.

The trailer looked good, it got good reviews ... and yet I thought it was complete crap in comparison to The Nightmare Before Christmas. That film is nothing short of completely superb.

Yes, the animation in Corpse Bride is good ... I enjoyed Johnny Depp as the lead voice ... But Christ, Danny Elfman did you ever fail on the score for this film. It just wasn't good, it was boring, the living brides role was too small. I felt like none of the characters had any depth like Jack Skellington had. The bride, Johnny's character or the corpse brides had no depth, I do not know any of those characters as you can know Jack after watching TNBC just once.

Yes, it takes talent to animate a film like this, but that does not mean the plot or the film as a whole is good, by any means.

Nope, you're not the only one orri.

Danny elfman is just getting boring, period. His last few scores have been awful. His lack of any sort of reasonable restraint has seriously dragged down burton's last two films, and someone needs to do something.

But, overall, this film was just really inferior to the nightmare before christmas. It lacked all of the wonderful tounge and cheek humor of nightmare for a bizzare, burton-esque world of the dead, presenting a lively counterpart to the drab and overtly formal world of the living.

Ultmately though, the distinctions of the worlds is my biggest problem with this movie. More specifically, none of the charcters within the land of the living have any sort of depth. Johnny depp's charcter is the architypal groom with cold feet who makes a convient change of heart at the end of the third act, and all of the antagonists were bland and unintresting.

While the stop-motion style of the nightmare before christmas was a really cool motif, this film simply forgets most of what made nightmare so intresting in the first place.

2/4 stars.

I agree with you completely Ghettoastic bong ... that is exactly my problem, there is NO depth to the characters, they are plain, bland and flat ....

People just shouldn't except this film as great just because Burton made it ... anyhow, I am consoled knowing someone else dislikes the film.
