Panic in Needle Park

Being a fan of film, drugs and also Al Pacino I am yet to view the early 70's film "Panic in Needle Park" which I believe was Pacino's first film. I am unsure why I haven't ever come across this film. But I just saw its on pay TV next month. Has anyone seen it? Recommend it? And how's it compare with other early Pacino films such as "dog Day afternoon' and "Serpico'?

not the best pacino film but it's well made and worth a watch.

I have seen pieces of the end of the movie, but I would love to watch it the whole way through. What channel is it coming on?? When is it coming on and on which station is it coming on???
 
^^ Its advertised on Foxtel in Australia. Coming soon they say, so probably september. And should be on showtime greats I think...

I heard this shit was filmed in asbury park. i heard about it cuz i was telling an old head about this park i was chillin in right by the ho' stroll one very cracked out night and he was like "yea they made a movie in that park. called frenzy in needle park or something like that"

this is the first time i heard of it since then.

is that true?
 
I've been waiting to see this movie for quite a while. I saw it on tv one time but didn't get a chance to see much of it. I only got to see the beginning, before they get addicted, so it was kind of slow paced. It reminded me of Serpico. I'm still waiting to acctually see it all.
 
Pretty good depiction of junky life in new york hustlin', busts, overdose. It kinda reminded me of Serpico mabye the way it was shot and the atmoshpere of it.
 
Might be interesting for any one with Foxtel in Australia who's a Pacino fan. On the 17th September they are playing a whole day of early Pacino films!! Should be great viewing.!
 
I thought it was a pretty good movie. There were some parts that were over the top. but by and large I liked it.
 
Damnit. I'm "Not Allowed" to watch movies like that anymore. My DVD collection has been stripped out of some of my favorite drug classics like Blow, F&L in Las Vegas, Trainspotting, etc. Of course, I'm "Not Allowed" to be here posting either. What do they call it, recovery?
 
what i remember of the movie : if you take heroin, your dog will jump out of the boat
don't take heroin, it makes your pets stupid!
