The sounds of modern Drum&Bass are so diverse today as a result of the many influences and styles of the international scenes key players, each having a hand in shaping the very form of this wonderful musical genre, the scenes fathers have passed on a legacy of collective ideas sporned from each individual background, upbringing and history. One of the most Influencial DJ/Producers in the world has been envolved since very early in the act, having himself shaped his very own niche within the scene, creating his own sound and continuing to reinvent himself almost weekly...

This man is Bristols favourite son Mr Roni Size.
Ronis colourful background sees his roots firmly planted in Urban culture, a passion for graffiti and skate culture and a drive for the sounds of dance music, particularly breakbeat.

Starting his first label in '93 Dope Dragon and then formed his strongest and still running label Full Cycle. In 94 close friend of Roni, Brian Gee formed brother label V Records.

It was the varying personal influences of the groups members SUV was dub, Krust was Hiphop, Die was jazz and Roni was Ragga/Bashment that made this label so very diverse and original. The group officially became known as "Represent" and they incorporated live instruments and singers to create a new exiting sound. It was 97 when they won the aclaimed Mercury Prize and the world was awoken to the might of Roni Size and Represent.

Since then things have gone global and Roni has collaborated and remixed with some of the worlds most celebrated artist, Cypress Hill, Redman, Sonique, U2 and Basement Jaxx just to name a few as well as doing score work on major motion pictures Blade and The Avengers.

Ronis Latest and still ongoing project is the acclaimed back to V series rehashing and reviving some of the classic sounds of the past and fusing them with modern production and forward thinking of some of the scenes newest major artists.

Expect to hear a set that crosses all borders all moods and expect to hear some of the most cutting edge and coveted sounds from around the globe! Ronis sound is made for dancing so strap on ya favourite trainers don ya bling and get yo'bad self bubbling!

The Magnetic and uplifting vibes of Full Cylces vocal front man MC Dynamite have been developed from his childhood influnces of Reggae early Motown and later drawn to the fledgling sound of UK hiphop. Dynamite was already a paid artist by the time Roni met him in 93 instantly clicking with his skills and obviously unique ability to motivate and intern control a crowd made for a partnership made.

Becoming the front man for the "Represent cru" and MC with all major V and Full Cylce Artists world wide as well as any other artist lucky enough to have him accompany then.

It was only rescently that Dynamite turned his sights to production of his first solo album "The World Of Dynamite" starting his own imprint Strong Records to get it out. An album that crossed genres covering D&B, Breaks/2 step & Hiphop featuring productions from artists such as Zinc, Wookie, Andy C, Skitz and of course Roni Size.

He is an active part of the proggresive sounds of D&B worldwide and is an amazing live MC having rocked shows in every corner!

I would really love to go to this, but the timing is wrong and money isnt on my side.

Unfortunetly due to the fact i just forked out $750 for insurance, i really cant afford to go to this :( i wanted too as well. Ah well!
 
Rubber_Duck i'd love too dude but like most im low on the $

Cant justify paying $40+ to see Roni and Dynamite MC. they'd have to chuck in another international to make my money's worth. Have fun to those who do go.

i wish i was going to the one here in melbs tonight :\ it will go off :) dam other commitments.
 
I went to Roni Size last night (Sydney). Definately worth the $25. He was awesome... you should get your butts there.

The local line-up would have rocked too, especially MC Tenacity. He definetly deserved the top spot last Saturday.
 
either coz more people would go in sydney
or the perth promoters are gettn charged more coz perth always goes off!
 
i member telling myself last yr that if roni came i would go and see .. but ppl i was going with pulled out on me .. so i dunno if i can make anymore :(
 
Did anyone actually end up going?

I didn't myself but all reports say it was shithouse and definately not worth the money.
 
yeh it was so crap.

new sound system was wikked until roni startd red lining it to the max nd it cut out. no word from trafik or heat y yet heard a rumor it was the mixin desk or sometin

mk1 & ruffkut were hilite of the nite

too many dikheads & way too much gear floatin around ..

resonance were shit, i heard them at roller, they were wikkid, wot happned on sat nite?

luckily got on the cheap guestlist.. wont be hurryin to see roni size again.

dynamite mc was cool as tho.

oh, lots of hot chiks but were mainly behavn like skanks when roni & dynamite were walkn through the crowd.
 
the whole night was ok .. just that the pepl who were up for it big time were proly placin too much reliance on substances?

mk1 and rufkut were well wikkid. just a shame resonance + roni size were that crap.

oh well!
